Some love stories unfold like a fairytale, while others take their time, weaving through the years, waiting for the perfect moment. Ours is one of those stories. One that began long ago among a circle of friends in Roanoke. Finley and I were always in each other’s lives, part of the same group, sharing the same adventures. But life has a way of pulling people in different directions, and after high school, I set out west, chasing dreams and exploring new horizons. Still, no matter where life took me, Roanoke was always home, and in those years apart, our paths would cross like clockwork. At music festivals, at familiar places in town, in the company of old friends. Each time, it was a reminder of the connection we shared, even if neither of us fully realized what it meant just yet. Then came a day that brought sorrow but also an unexpected gift. A mutual friend’s passing brought us both to the same place gathering among familiar faces, sharing memories, and finding comfort in each other’s presence. It was in that moment, on an afternoon neither of us had planned for, that I saw Finley in a new light. Amid the loss, there was something steady, something grounding about her presence and something that felt like home. Maybe it was fate, or maybe it was just the right time at last, but I finally mustered up the courage to ask her out. And from that day forward, everything changed. What had been years of casual crossings turned into something undeniable. Finley became my best friend, my adventure partner, the person I laugh with, dream with, and now, the person I get to spend forever with. Life has a funny way of bringing people together when they’re truly meant to be. Our journey wasn’t a straight path, but rather one filled with years of moments leading to this—our wedding day. And as we stand here today, surrounded by the people who have been part of our story, we are reminded that love always finds a way home. Thank you for being here to celebrate with us. Our story is just beginning, and we’re so grateful to have you as part of it.
