What are the wedding colors?
Red and white, like Canada’s flag :)
If we’re traveling far, where can we stay overnight?
The wedding is at Doubletree Hotel in Bristol, so you could stay right on-site (they have an indoor pool, but breakfast is not included & they do not allow pets.) Home2Suites is immediately next door and Homewood Suites is 5 minutes away (both have an indoor pool, include breakfast, and allow pets.)
Courtyard by Marriott is 5 minutes away and has no pool/no included breakfast/no pets allowed, but is a more cost-effective option in Bristol.
If you will be staying in a hotel before or after the wedding, a Canadian-themed snack & beverage welcome basket will be provided.
What if we can’t make it to the wedding?
We are planning to record the ceremony and upload it to guestpix.com for those who can’t attend in-person.
What are some important things to know about Fred?
Fred was named after his father, and his English last name comes from the words swine & dells (valleys.) He is the youngest in his family; he has one sister named Debbie.
He heard the gospel through a childhood friend (Bruce Wiebe) who invited him to a young adults’ group at his church. Fred was saved at age 26 and has attended North Surrey Gospel Chapel since age 28.
He has a bachelor’s degree in cell biology. He loves screenwriting and watching movies, and has even produced and directed a movie.
He is a regular volunteer blood donor, with over 180 donations!
What are some important things to know about Debbie?
Debbie was named after her aunt. Her French Canadian last name means “from the abbey” (place where nuns or monks live.) She is the oldest in her family, with 2 younger sisters named Lauren and Allison.
Debbie was raised hearing the gospel at Terryville Gospel Hall and became a Christian at age 8.
She has a bachelor’s degree of science in nursing and currently works on a medical-surgical floor in a local hospital.
She loves escape rooms and has done dozens in 7 states, plus several in British Colombia now. She also loves planning fun gifts and activities for her nieces and nephews!
Fred: What about Debbie first sparked your interest?
The first thing that really grabbed my attention was how open and honest she was about deep and personal stuff. I thought, “She’s young, but she’s mature enough.”
Debbie: What about Fred first sparked your interest?
Because he had supported his first wife Mindy through an 8-year battle with breast cancer, he had already proved that he means it when he says, “Till death do us part; in sickness or in health.”
What’s the age gap between you two?
25 years
Why don’t you have a gift registry?
Debbie will be moving to the western coast of Canada and will be unable to pack physical gifts, plus Fred’s house is already furnished. A gift is not necessary, especially considering the traveling many guests are planning to support the couple on their big day. If you still wanted to give something, airline gift cards would be appreciated since they will help Fred & Debbie visit the east coast. There are companies like flightgift.com that sell universal airline gift cards, or Air Canada offers the most flights from Vancouver to the eastern U.S.
Will the kids be bored at the reception?
Not if we can help it! :) We’ve hired two young ladies (Susie & Becky Batterton) to help supervise the littles in provided activities.
