We knew each other as acquaintances from some church functions years before we got together. We would run into each other here and there and say hi and talk. I was always happy to see her. For a few years, we saw each other at prayer meetings that occurred before a community outreach event in our city. I really liked Amy but was afraid to say anything. I was so happy to see her each time so my friend, Jon, encouraged me to ask her out. I knew I had to do it. There were a few chances at the Western Days prayer meetings, but I couldn't get up the nerve. With some failed attempts, God had other plans. Each June, I had been volunteering at their kid's Bible Camp and Amy decided to volunteer at it for the first time!! And guess what!?! Since Amy was new, she wanted a partner that she knew and could help her with leading the kid's activities and she picked me! She didn't know it, but I was so happy because God still set me up and gave me another chance. I asked her out on our lunch break and she told me that she needed to be sure she was with a God-fearing man and that she would need to pray about it. I said that is great! I want a woman who wants me to be like that. We were partners and hung out the rest of the day at the event. That night we exchanged phone numbers. Five days later, I was overjoyed to get a text from Amy and she said that she wanted us to get to know each other better. Shortly after we began courting and God has been bringing us closer together ever since.
