Coffee and a bagel one day, ice cream in Georgia the next. Less than two months into dating, Gabe asked Savannah to fly to Atlanta with him to be his wedding date. She was apprehensive. Luckily, their mutual love of fried chicken calmed her fears and made for a delicious trip.

They went out of their comfort zones for each other. The island boy and the desert girl went ice skating. Savannah fell on the ice and to show his support, Gabe fell alongside her. They knew that they needed to start from the bottom in order to build a loving, wholesome relationship.

They say that whatever you do on New Year's Day is what you'll be doing for the rest of the year. They ate, laughed, and enjoyed each other's company.

This time Gabe joined Savannah on a road trip to be her wedding date right after a 24-hour shift at the hospital. He may have been delusional because of working all day and night, but Gabe says it was because of love.

Their first Valentine's date was at Carte Blanche, a delicious French Mexican restaurant in Oceanside. The restaurant did not stand the test of time, but for Savannah and Gabe, so far so good.

Gabe brought Savannah home to Guam to explore his little island home (it wouldn't be the last time). She swam in the open ocean and ate fried parrotfish.

Savannah brought Gabe home to celebrate Easter in Mesa, AZ. He had Dutch Bros and promised to make lumpia the next time they came back.

Savannah supported Gabe through his food blog era, which has since fizzled out. Luckily, their love carries on.

They explored O'ahu, Gabe's second island home. The sun, sea, and poke were divine.

They returned to Mesa, AZ on Easter to make lumpia. The rolled spring rolls as Jesus rolled away the stone.

They also rolled the dice in Vegas because JimJam wanted to check out a local furniture store... which they did not end up checking out.

Under the guise of a fake brunch, Gabe popped the question in scenic Coronado. Coming up with an excuse to wear his uniform was challenging. He decided that his advisor, Dr. Johnson, would be hosting the fake brunch - she was a stickler for uniforms.

An elderly gentleman was at the ready, insisting that he take a picture for them. Gabe assured him that a photographer was already on the job.

The elderly gentleman insisted.

Another surprise was waiting that night at Herb & Sea, Savannah and Gabe's favorite SoCal restaurant. Surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated the promise of a bright future.

After graduating from Pediatrics residency, Gabe brought Savannah home where she started her new job as a science teacher, and eventually became Science Department Chair in six months. As a newly minted Environmental Science teacher, participating in the International Coastal Clean-up was a must!

They've since been visited by Savannah's parents, whose trip was nearly washed out by an impending typhoon. All the extra rain made for excellent waterfall viewing.

Missing some of the luxuries of stateside life, they dressed as Costco employees for Halloween.

They've gone to many a seafood buffet.

They travelled to Tokyo to get their fix of udon, ramen, onigiri, strawberries, sushi, Starbucks, and snow.

In the meantime, they dance on the sand and can't wait for you to join them for their next biggest chapter!
