It was the Sunday before Presidents Day. The year was 2017. This was the day Gigi and Matt met. They met at Ferndale Tavern in Ferndale, MD. This is the epitome of a dive bar. Matt frequented this establishment but this was Gigi’s first time. Matt decided last minute to go out because he was off the next day. Gigi did too. They saw each other across the pool room at the bar. Matt came up to Gigi who was sitting up against the opposite wall. He asked “will you be my partner?” Gigi said no. He asked again. Gigi said no. He asked a couple more times and she said no. Finally she agreed. They were inseparable for the rest of the night. They exchanged numbers and went home separately. When Gigi texted Matt to tell him she made it home, Matt responded “I am going to marry you one day”. And like the romantic that he is, he used this same line in his marriage proposal.
Their first date was the next day. They were both off that day right? Matt did it right and surprised Gigi by taking her to the aquarium. It was a great day.
Matt went on a cruise the following week. Billy, Matt’s brother, recalls Matt BUYING the WiFi on the ship in order to be able to FaceTime Gigi. Billy said this is when he knew “Gigi is the one”.
Matt asked Gigi the following week after the cruise, on the way home from a party, “So are you my girlfriend yet?”. Gigi said yes.
The following year Matt and Gigi moved into an apartment together. 2 weeks later after moving in together, they got a puppy named Adaline.
The following year they get engaged and here they are.
