Under the celestial night sky on June 20, 2016—a night where the rarest full moon since the fabled 1967 Summer of Love illuminated the sky—two souls were destined to meet.

It was the first day of summer, a warm evening bursting with promise, as Gabriela and Joseph arrived at their favorite reggae lounge, each with their own circle of friends, drawn by the pulsating rhythm of music that ignited their hearts.

As the night waned and the DJ played the hottest Soca anthem of the year, "Cheers to Life" by Voice, their eyes met across the dance floor. In that fleeting moment, time seemed to pause, as though the universe had orchestrated this serendipitous encounter. With quiet confidence, Joseph made his way to Gabriela, and together they danced as though they had known each other for lifetimes. It was a magical connection that marked the beginning of a beautiful journey.

From Friends to Forever

What began as a deep friendship blossomed into something extraordinary. They shared endless conversations, laughter, and dreams, building a foundation of trust and camaraderie. Their first vacation together, to the vibrant island of Curaçao in May 2018, was a celebration of their bond—a blend of turquoise waters, sun-kissed beaches, and the thrill of adventure.

On October 24, 2018, the tides of their relationship shifted, and they officially became a couple. From then on, their love story unfolded like a melody, with every verse adding richness to their shared symphony.

Exploring the World Together

Gabriela and Joseph's love for travel became the heartbeat of their story. They ventured to Joseph's hometown of Clarendon, Jamaica, in 2019, where Gabriela experienced the warmth and vibrancy of his roots. That same year, they explored the colors and culture of Colombia, dancing through Cartagena's cobblestone streets. Their wanderlust continued with a romantic escape to Tulum in 2020, a sun-drenched adventure to Saint Lucia and Puerto Rico in 2021, and Gabriela's hometown Portsmouth Dominica, followed by the the pristine shores of Cancun in 2022.

Each destination deepened their bond, as they discovered the world together. Gabriela’s kind, free-spirited nature complemented Joseph’s courageous, intelligent soul. They became each other’s anchors and wings, finding joy in dancing, singing karaoke, and creating solutions to make the world a better place.

A Love That Inspires

On February 9, 2023, fate smiled on them again when they won a trip on The Drew Barrymore Show. One month later, on March 8, 2023, Joseph proposed under the stars of San Antonio, Texas, marking the start of their next chapter. Their shared passion for making a difference led them to establish The Diverse Learner Foundation, a mission-driven initiative to empower youth and improve lives worldwide.

Through their foundation, they have transformed their love into a force for good, blending their talents as an educator and a Fire Captain to inspire others. Their story is a testament to the power of connection, purpose, and partnership.

A Caribbean Dream Wedding

Gabriela and Joseph's love for the Caribbean, the beach, and the rhythms of life will culminate in their wedding on the breathtaking Seven Mile Beach in Negril, Jamaica, on April 26, 2025. Surrounded by turquoise waters and golden sands, they will vow to continue their journey as soulmates, dancing to the melody of a love written in the stars.
