In the summer of 2022, The Redaelli’s decided to plan a last minute family vacation to Italy. Peter knew this would be the perfect time to pop the question to Gab. Peter got the ring just in time before the family left for their trip and had his plan of how he wanted to ask her to marry him all figured out.
During the trip, he didn’t let his backpack out of his sight. The first three days of the trip in Rome were nerve wracking, making sure Gab didn’t find the ring stuffed away at the bottom of his bag.
About 4 days in, Peter told Gab that the next day he had a nice “date night” planned for them, about 2 hrs away in a small town in Tuscany called Certaldo. When July 3rd came around, it happened to be an extremely hot 98 degree day in Tuscany. During the day, everyone was hanging out by the pool, relaxing in the sun, and going in the pool. Peter spent the day pacing around the villa, making sure every last detail of the plan was set. He was afraid he’d give it away, but he kept randomly telling Gab “hey, make sure you put sun screen on, you don’t want to get burnt” and “hey, maybe you should drink some water, it’s really hot out”. He was worried about her being sunburnt in the engagement pictures and concerned she would faint because she couldn't believe she got engaged! Time would tell…
Finally, at around 5pm, Gab and Peter got ready to have a romantic “date night” dinner in the heart of Tuscany. Peter told Gab that his cousins had mentioned he must go to this small town, even though it was 2 hours away. Peter had chosen this spot after researching a bunch of Italian photographers in the Tuscan area.
Peter and Gab were picked up by their driver Andrea who knew about the plan and made the 2 hour ride pass by quickly. Peter & Gab first arrived in the small mountain town of Certaldo. They walked around the town, taking in the sights of the rolling hills of Tuscany and admiring the peace and quiet. After walking through the town, they started to walk back to the car and Peter knew the time was close. Gab got in the car first, Peter went to the back to get his “camera” and took the ring from his bag and put it in his coat pocket.
As they left town, Andrea mentioned before they went to dinner, he wanted to show them one of the most beautiful parks in Tuscany that only locals know about. As they got out of the van, Peter walked Gab up the hill to a picnic that was waiting for them. Peter & Gab sat down and enjoyed a nice glass of wine before the big moment. Peter didn’t want to make it to obvious by rushing into things so they had some food and wine and enjoyed the view.
Peter knew, the time was now and made the move he and his photographer talked about. Peter said, “Hey, let’s take a walk” and took Gabriella’s hand as they started to walk a little down the hill to the perfect spot for the perfect moment. At that moment, Peter turned, held Gabs hands, and started telling her how he is the happiest man in the world and can’t believe he is so lucky to have met her. He then got down on one knee and asked the woman he loves to marry him. She said "YES!"
They then went on to take amazing photos in the Tuscan countryside, have a romantic Italian dinner at a Castle in Certaldo, and continued to have an amazing vacation in Italy with memories for a lifetime!
