It was the summer of 2020. Gabby had just graduated from the University of Akron and due to the tough job market that was created by the Covid-19 Pandemic, she took a temporary job serving at Firestone Country Club. One fateful afternoon, Thane happened to walk in the clubhouse to order a drink prior to teeing off. He did not know it at the time, but the brilliant, beautiful Sicilian girl working the bar (and hiding behind a mask) would go on to change his life.

Thane will tell you that it was Gabby’s beautiful brown eyes that originally caught his attention. The two would go on to run into each other every few days, and soon, they would begin talking, texting and bonding over shared beliefs - faith, family, morals, and similar political views, and of course, a mutual love of golf.

It took Thane about 5 months to come up with the courage to ask Gabby out. After going on their first date, it took Gabby exactly one date to confirm that she was not interested in dating Thane. Down but not defeated, Thane persevered and did not give up. If you know Thane, you also know that once he has his mind made up, he always seems to get what he wants.

They began dating in early 2021, and were officially a couple by April of that year.

Together, they have travelled all over the United States, whether it be for a Selected Independent Funeral Homes Meeting or on a golf trip to a bucket listed destination.

They love spending time together and with their families. While golf is a frequent theme, they both will tell you that going to mass together on Sunday Mornings is their favorite (and most important) thing to do together.
