Our Wedding

Our story began on a Saturday morning at Nola Caye in New Orleans. During college football season, almost every Saturday, a few friends & I would meet up at one of our houses, go get breakfast & then find a place to hangout to watch games for the day. This Saturday was different for a few reasons. One of my friends said let’s go to Nola Caye, for those of y’all that don’t know, this is a much nicer restaurant than we usually would go to. He mentioned two girls would be meeting us there. I didn’t think much of it in the moment because, believe it or not, I figured I was going to be pretty focused on placing football bets for the day.   We arrived to Nola Caye early and did what we knew as the best way to start a game day, begin drinking. After a drink or two, two girls walked in… one of which being Gabbie. As she walked to the bathroom I can remember telling my friends “damn we have to be serious today.” One thing led to another & we hit it off. Many of you may not know, this year was actually not my first time proposing to Gabbie. As a matter of fact, that Saturday at Nola Caye, her friend dared me to pretend propose to Gabbie and I’d like to think that this was a God wink telling me that she is gonna be the one; here we are years later having it all come full circle.   After that Saturday, we began doing just about everything together. Whether it was spontaneous weekend trips, sporting events, trying different restaurants or visiting family; we quickly became attached at the hip.   After 2 years we had the opportunity to move to Nashville because of my job. I already had a strong feeling Gabbie was the one, but this is where it became very obvious. Starting this chapter in a new city together, not really knowing many people, we really became each other’s family. Fortunately for me, this meant I also gained a roommate who would clean the apartment… All jokes aside, when we moved to Nashville, I quickly realized that it really didn’t matter where we physically were. All that mattered was that she was with me.   Exploring this new city together was, and still has been, such a special time in our lives. After eight months of living together, I knew for certain that I want my forever to look just like this. As many of y’all know, getting a surprise past Gabbie is just about near impossible. My family planned a trip to Rosemary Beach Florida around the 4th of July and at this point she was still clueless of how much was in store for this trip. The first night, my mom had “booked a photographer to take family photos” so we would all have a reason to get dressed nice and go to the beach at sunset. Gabbie and I walked down to the beach a little ahead of everyone and this was where I asked her to marry me. As my family joined us and we were all taking photos, she had no clue her family was in on the surprise. While we were smiling for a picture, her family snuck up behind us and surprised her - she was beside herself in shock. This is a memory we will all cherish forever and I cannot wait for a lifetime of memories with her at my side.
