Our Wedding

Our journey began in 2015 at Stellenbosch University, where fate introduced us in one of those funny ways. Little did I know that he was Romeo... I was a wide-eyed first-year student, and Marc, then in third-year, immediately caught my attention.While we started as friends, it didn’t take too long for that initial spark to ignite into something deeper. By May 2017, we were finally getting to know each other and we officially began dating that September, quickly finding ourselves immersed in each other's worlds.Marc bravely attended my father’s wedding, meeting that entire side family and friends all at once!That first December, we ventured to Tzaneen for a hot summer holiday, where we took on the challenge of puppy-sitting eleven golden lab puppies.It was a chaotic start, but it was also filled with laughter and love.A lot of our life together has been finding love, strength and beauty in our sometimes somewhat chaotic circumstances. From the beginning, I recognized Marc's heart of gold; his kindness and patience all wrapped in that gorgeous exterior with those big, brown eyes.Marc fell in love with my empathetic, caring nature and strong personality. Evidently he also just likes blondes, so that helped. 7 years later, he finally knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said "Marry me!" Together, we’ve faced challenges that many couples might not experience in a lifetime, including the loss of beloved family members.These tough times have only strengthened our bond, reminding us of the importance of support and resilience, and appreciating what we have. As we navigated life together, we’ve inspired each other to grow, both individually and as a couple.Our shared passion for travel has taken us on incredible adventures, with many more awaiting us on the horizon. We’re excited to continue this journey together, cherishing every moment and looking forward to a future filled with love, laughter, and new experiences.

Gabi has 2 Maids of Honour, since her "little" sister Julia is still in school and best friend Lulu lives far away. Together they will be Maids of Honour. Jules has become Gabi's "mini-me" and the two have an unbreakable bond. Julia is your go-to person for any questions, especially pertaining to the Bride-to-be.

Lulu and Gabi met when they were 5 and have been best friends ever since. The two are inseparable, no matter how far apart they may be. The laughter that Lulu and Gabi share is one of their friendship's most defining qualities. Lulu happens to be a wedding-planner and travel guru, making her the perfect Maid of Honour to join Jules.

Megan is the girlfriend of Marc's brother, Alex, and through this, the WWAGs (Williams wives and girlfriends) have become like family. Although it took some time to really flourish, Megan and Gabi share the most special friendship that has become rock solid over the years, and they always have the best time together. Meg and Gabs are the ultimate dynamic duo, and the Williams boys obviously have similar taste in women.

Paige and Gabi met on their very first day of Highschool at Stanford Lake College, and were instant besties. From their love for singing, crossword puzzles, shopping, travelling, wine and good humour - Paige and Gabi have always shared so much in common and have a special telepathic bond. Paige and Gabi share annoyingly long video calls and tell each other everything, so naturally Marc also knows all the ins and outs from being around these catch up calls.

Erinn and Gabi were roommates in hostel at Stanford. They were joined at the hip, and shared a passion for art and academics to the point where the younger grades called them "The White Blazer Witches" because they were also hostel heads of discipline. Erinn, living far from school, often "lived" at the Krüger house on weekends and was considered part of the family.

Chané is a little firecracker as Gabi likes to say, and the two actually went from not liking each other at first, to loving each other unconditionally and sharing special adventures together. She is also the person to thank for introducing the Bride and Groom to be. Chané has been there for Gabi through thick & thin, and she and her fiancé, James, are one of Marc and Gabi's closest couple friends, with whom they share many special memories.

Lisa and Gabi are childhood family friends, who met on a special Kruger Park trip in 2008. From the first moment, 12-year-old Gabi thought the slightly older teenager was the coolest person ever and has looked up to her ever since. Lisa is a loyal friend and has become Gabi's official Pilates partner, wine introducer, cabin weekend partner and restaurant explorer. She always makes time for Gabi and the two have become very close since she moved to Cape Town and they reconnected.

The Best man and MC for the wedding, Alex is Marc's younger, taller, smarter and better looking brother. They are very close and share an amazing childhood of memories from growing up in America where Alex was born, adventures in the garden at home in Cape Town, barely surviving Uluwatu in Bali, to his first few jols in Stellies. Alex’s sharp sense of humour & organisational abilities as a lawyer made him a no brainer as the Master of Ceremonies for the special day.

“VB” and Marc met at Stellenbosch University, where they shared a digs together. Since then they have become regulars on Sea Point promenade with Veebs regularly leaving Marc in his dust as they train for the marathon that they will never actually run. Other than strutting the prom; VB & Marc can often be found sinking a cold one at Only Fools, true Prombois. Feed VB enough Brandy & he will ask you for a cheeky vape, so hide your freezey grape if you see him approaching from across the dance floor after hours.

James von Bardeleben aka "VB"

Matt’s Dad is Marc’s godfather & they basically grew up together family. “Beefy” as he was appointed during their school years has shared amazing memories with Marc over the years. The annual trip to the Cederberg with their families, jolling at Stellenbosch where Matt came to visit before his now lovely wife Sarah rightly decided that he should not be subjected to the abuse of Marc & Luke without her being there to maintain some sort of order.

Matthew Jameson aka "Beefy"

Luke and Marc shared a flat together when they first got to Stellies, they then shared a digs together. Needless to say they know each others idiosyncrasies inside and out. Luke is single handedly responsible for Marc’s aversion to tuna mayo wraps, a delicacy that Luke thought would make a fantastic breakfast to take with him to lectures. Since then Marc has banished Luke to live in England where he can have as many Tuna Mayo wrap brekkies as his heart desires. If you see Luke on the wedding day please gift him a tin of Woolies Tuna to take back to the UK as Marks & Spencer's "Just isn't the same".

Luke Heydenrych

Mike and Marc met in grade 8 at school, they were adventure buddies on Epic in the Cederberg together where they survived solo 3 day hikes & rogue pofadder encounters. Recently they have starting attempting to blend their inner David Goggins & Wim Hof, speeding through Sea Point at a cracking 6:35 pace before blowing off some steam with a 15 minute cold plunge at Saunders which is occasionally cut to 2 minutes if Mikey has a bit of a snivel that morning. So for all your running, training & plunging questions - Mike is your man.

Michael Midgely

Gabi’s younger brother, Christian and Marc bonded over Call of Duty marathons when they first met in Tzaneen. Since then as Christian’s voice broke and he reached an appropriate age, these developed into COD drinking games which take place at least once a quarter whilst the girls have a Taylor Swift karaoke night or disappear into the world of Sims. Christian and Marc have shared many memories, a favourite is the New Years eve they spent in Berlin where they then navigated the entire family festive party of Krügers back home, a significant achievement.

Grant and Marc studied the same degree at Stellies together. Only a small group of 16 people took the BA Value and Policy studies degree and the two of them bonded over interesting subjects such as Decision Making. An addiction to Deluxe Coffee at Dewarrrenmarket while they cranked out philosophy essays became a ritual. Grant & his family hosted Marc for several New Years eve’s at their home in St Francis where many a memory was simultaneously made forgotten with copious amounts of warm brandy along with Duncan Jackson.

Grant Rautenbach

Oli and Marc became mates when he joined Marc’s grade 5 class. Ironically Oli has developed into one of the more responsible mates when he needs to be. As a now a pilot he has a good handle on not panicking in stressful situations. He has saved two separate boys weekends from disaster, one with a fire extruisher and the other with a strong left cross. A reliable man in a pinch, but keep your eyes on your rolling papers as he has the same post brandy nicotine cravings as VB.

Michael was born just under 2 years before Gabi, which he spent preparing mom and dad for the chaotic and bubbly second-born that was yet to take their world by storm. They grew up doing everything together, especially those first 8 years, and could not have been more opposite - with Gabi being the Barbie-obsessed, Ballerina Princess and Mike being the Tiger-loving, sword-collecting wild child. Michael will be one of the 2 witnesses to marry the Bride and Groom.

Michael Krüger

Michèle is the mother of Gabi and has always been a huge support and inspiration in the life and upbringing of the bride to be - from instilling in her a love for language, art, poetry and travelling; to being her unconditional cheerleader and number one fan. Mich is a woman of many talents and with the kindest heart - Gabi could not have someone better to aspire to be like. She will, of course, be putting her creative mind to use by helping the happy couple's vision come to life; and is undoubtably Marc's number one fan - saying from day one that he is THE ONE. 

Michèle Meyer

"Oom Roelf" first came into Gabi's life when she was around 5 years old, and has been a pillar of strength and source of wisdom for her and their family, ever since. He is, and always has been, the most incredible second dad that they could have hoped for. Gabi and Michael were very lucky to join Roelf and their mom on many exciting travels and adventures thanks to his work. Roelf has been waiting on this wedding with much excitement and anticipation, allowing Marc into his very special whiskey, mead and who knows what else collection, over which much bonding and talking rugby and such, happened.

Big Lloydle is the father of the Groom, he has been an incredible role model & all around legend for both Alex & Marc throughout their lives. He bravely moved the family over to Paris where Marc was born, before jumping over to America where Alex was born. If you listen carefully after his 3rd glass of wine the Parisian lilt returns slightly. His generosity and love for his boys know no bounds and he is their go to person. He has been an incredible parent to the boys since their Mom passed in 2014 and has raised in them in a way that would make her incredibly proud. Never shy of a stiff brandy on a special occasion (whenever the Bokke are playing - perhaps the 3rd of May 2025) he is partial to Klipdrift Premium (hint hint).

Lloyd Williams

Amber is Alex & Marc’s stepmother. She came into their lives in 2016 when Dad nervously introduced them, he needn’t have worried though as the boys immediately took to A and her caring nature. Since then they have been on amazing adventures to Mozambique, Bali and Montague to name a few; all facilitated through Ambers famous spreadsheets. These were especially useful when Alex, Gabs & Marc moved back home to weather the lockdown; there were menu’s & activities scheduled for each day the kept everyone entertained. Amber is of course the matriarch of the WWAGs and shares the most special experiences and memories with Meg and Gabs. Watch out for her once the ABBA comes on, Amber & her twin Kerryn are a force to be reckoned with. Amber will also have the special role of signing as witness.

Our Honeymoon Fund

We appreciate your presence on our big day and this is the biggest gift already.&nbsp; If you would like to gift us anything, we would also hugely appreciate any contributions to our honeymoon fund as a gift. We are planning on funding our honeymoon partially from financial gifts from friends and family and will be able to book this once we know what budget allows after the wedding. If you’d like to give us a contribution as a gift, we have a savings account for our honeymoon plans under Gabi’s bank account.
