Our Wedding

Goodbyes are often bittersweet, but they become much sweeter when they give birth to new beginnings. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC has a reputation for sending people all around the world to share the gospel and preach the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Occasionally, those called to this mission are fortunate enough to be brought into partnership with one another. Such is the case for Gage and Kristin. It was at a sending off party for a mutual friend from the seminary that Gage and Kristin crossed paths for the first time. I (Gage) immediately noticed Kristin and wanted to learn her name at the very least, but surely she already had a boyfriend... right? WRONG, praise the LORD. I (Kristin) after a night of conversation with old seminary friends, felt incredibly refreshed after some time away from seminary circles since I had graduated 2 years prior. I was reminded that these are my kinds of people. Little did I know, however, that my future husband was in the house that night (and little did I know that he was the dorky guy who was trying to entertain the crowd with magic tricks). Some minor interest in one another (major interest from Gage) gave way to other group gatherings where they were able to spend more time together. First, there was a 4th of July party at Kristin's house where she baited Gage into getting her number by convincing him to sign up for a monthly subscription for restaurant coupons. Then she invited him to a Bible study (which turns out to be only girls) that he continued to attend week after week. After a few awkward text conversations, Gage secured a "sneak-a-date" to "hear Kristin's life story and get to know her a little more" over coffee. It's hard to call this their first actual date though because Kristin asked to meet at a coffee shop where she was CERTAIN no one she knew would see them AND she showed up SUPER early to buy her own coffee... but Gage was none the wiser. He was with THE girl. A few weeks later, July 19, 2023, was their first real date. On this date, Gage nearly got in a car wreck, forgot the leftovers at the restaurant, and they bumped into an ex-boyfriend of Kristin's on an after dinner walk. But this was not for nothing, as Gage also asked to pursue Kristin, to which she replied, "What does that mean?"... He replied, "I don't know. I think that's just what you're supposed to say!" It was decided that they could commit to one more date after that sweet night. And that next date led to another, and another, and another. After a few months of going on dates, Gage eager to make it official and Kristin moving ever so meticulously, she'd finally had enough. On September 23, 2023, Kristin finally cracked and said, "I'm ready to be your girlfriend." APPARENTLY, she had been dropping hints that she was ready to move forward in the relationship, but what did Gage know? Oblivious and elated, he accepted. To this day, Gage will jokingly refer to that afternoon as the day that "Kristin asked me to be her boyfriend." Over the next few months, things really picked up speed. We've been able to meet and spend time with each others' families, traveled across the country, started attending and serving in the same church, and grown closer and closer together in our mutual efforts to display the love of Jesus to each another. After 11 sweet months of dating (and Kristin eagerly awaiting the next step), Gage proposed on June 13, 2024. As we move into this next chapter, we hope and pray that our marriage will continuously model Jesus' self-sacrificing love for His Church. We covet your prayers for us, and we are thrilled to share this part of our lives with you! "'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church." - Ephesians 5:31-32
