Q + A

Question: Where is your gift registry?

Answer: We don't have one! We are combining households and have a greater need to give things away than get new items. Your blessings and prayers are all the gift we could ask for.

In honor of Don's long career in Christian ministry, and Gail's in health care, we welcome donations to Doctors Without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org) and the Orthodox Presbyterian Church Worldwide Outreach (give.opc.org.)

Here comes the bride, all dressed in . . . GREEN?

Yep! And this is my choice, no one is saying I can't or shouldn't wear white. So why green? To answer I will borrow a phrase from the venerable Samwise Gamgee (from Lord of the Rings) after he found out that the impossible quest was fulfilled, that the respected mentor he thought dead is alive and well, and that a mysterious companion is actually a long-lost king: "How do I feel? . . . I feel like spring after winter, and sun on the leaves, and like trumpets and harps and all the song I've ever heard!" If white is about purity and newness, then green is about renewal, second chances, "spring after winter." Just right for a marriage for a divorcee and widower. And, green is my favorite color.

Who will walk the bride down the aisle?

This bride feels strongly that this is her father's place. Since he is no longer with us in life, I will wear his ring on my right hand, and he will be with me in my thoughts and my heart.
