As the wedding is fast approaching (3 weeks!) we decided to put up some information to help everyone know what the plan is! We have booked the bus to pick up those flying into Bordeaux from Dublin on the 6th July at approximately 3:00pm. This is linked to the flight number so they will know of any possible delays. We have asked the bus to stop at a local supermarket to give everyone the opportunity to buy some food/ snacks for themselves. As our venue is bring your own drink on the days before and after the wedding day, we recommend that you buy whatever you want from either duty free at the airport or at the supermarket when the bus stops. On arrival everyone will get the chance to unpack, unwind and explore the beautiful venue. We have a mini van rented for those not staying on site so we will drop you at your accommodation. The first night will have a pizza van and some welcome drinks at approximately 8:00pm. We will provide a continental breakfast each day in the chateau and will provide the same food in the external accommodations so you do not have to travel back and forth for breakfast. The wedding ceremony will take place at 2:30pm therefore call for service is at 2:00pm. The minivan will pick those staying off site up at approximately 1:00pm. Cocktail reception will be held on the rear steps of the Chateau immediately after the ceremony and call for dinner will be at 6:15pm. Speeches will be held before dinner from 6:30pm with dinner served at 7:00pm If you have bought a specific drink that you would like for the evening or any other day, you can bring it and we can store it for you in the caterer's kitchen Dancing will start at approximately 9:00pm. Once the night is over, taxis will be ordered for those staying offsite. It is approximately a 10 minute walk to the nearby town if you want to stay later and walk it. You can try arrange your own taxis but these cannot be guaranteed. The day after, breakfast will be provided in the morning and a catered BBQ will be served at approximately 3:30pm. During the day guests can play tennis and football, relax and sit by the pool. This is a relaxed day for everyone to enjoy at their own leisure. Remember to bring your own drink to this day. We can do a supermarket run if needs be to get more drink and food as people require. There will be a party/ music in the barn in the evening. On the 9th July a bus has been booked to pick everyone up from the Chateau at 9:45am sharp. This is to bring us all to St Emilion, with a wine tour booked at 2:00pm until 3:00pm. This gives everyone a chance to explore the town, get their own lunch and relax. The bus will depart St Emilion at 5:00pm returning to the chateau by 7:00pm. On Monday 10th July the bus will depart the Chateau at 10:00 am to bring everyone to Bordeaux Airport. If anyone has any more questions please do not hesitate to ask us! If you have any issues please let us know ASAP rather than close to the day as we will be very preoccupied with wedding plans. We are here to help in anyway we can. We both cannot wait to see you all in France!

Our Wedding

Our story began when we first met at Helens Bay beach in 2009. We began dating in July 2010 after a very nervous Gareth asked Sarah to be his girlfriend. Ever since then we have been inseparable. We share a love of travelling having visited many countries together and lived in Australia for over 3 years. We both love animals and have adopted multiple pets together, even flying Butters and Slinky home from Australia with us! After 10 years together Gareth asked Sarah to marry him whilst in Australia when the world was locked down with Covid. Now we have returned home to plan our dream French wedding and we cannot wait to spend forever together. We would love for you to join us in celebrating our marriage at our dream wedding in France at the beautiful Chateau la Durantie.

How to get there

Flying directly from Dublin to Bordeaux Airport on Thursday 6th July and returning Monday 10th July. The return flights from Dublin are on the website linked below.: Flights may be announced from Belfast but at this time they are not confirmed therefore it is best to book from Dublin as early as possible to get the cheapest rates. It is preferable if everyone requiring a transfer gets the same flights. Do not hesitate to contact us to advise you on the best travel arrangements.

Flights

Flying directly from Dublin to Bordeaux Airport on Thursday 6th July and returning Monday 10th July. The flights have been released and are as follows: The outbound flight leaves Dublin at 11:50am on 6th July 2023 flying with Ryanair. The best return flight leaves Bordeaux at 15:20 on 10th July flying with Aer Lingus. These are the best flights to suit our dates and we would recommend that you book ASAP to guarantee seats and best price. It is required that everyone wanting to get on the organised transfer gets these flights. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Transfer

Chateau la Durantie is located 2 hours drive from Bordeaux Airport which we will organise a transfer to and from the venue if flying from Dublin to Bordeaux. Car rental from the airport is also very easy to do and the drive through Dordogne is very enjoyable with beautiful vineyards and rolling hills. We have requested that you RSVP to the transfer option on this website so we know how many to allow for on the bus. This will be approximately €35 each per person for return transfer.

Transport

The wedding party and immediate family will be staying on site in the Chateau. There is also additional rooms on site including the coach house and cottage. There might not be enough room to accommodate everyone at the Chateau but there is further accommodation located 5-10 mins walk between fruit Orchards that we will book once we know numbers of guests.
