It was June of 2022, and I had been at a wedding all day. I had consumed several drinks with friends when we decided to head to a graduation party. It was there where I had apparently met Gavyn. I was told we talked extensively about wrestling...shocker, I know! While my memory is washed from that night, I had received several hints and reminders from people there that night to reach back out. Finally, a week later, I did just that. It pretty much took off from there. A week or two later we decided to meet up on a Friday night. A first date that consisted of picking up Braxton, his best friend, and driving to Bagley to hang out with Braxton's dad Kevin. That's when I knew his level of romance ha! I had met his parents that night as well as his beagle. I was greated by Nash, the beagle, losing his mind over rabbit. Mind you this was the first time I have ever heard a beagle! Gavyn introduced me to his dad, and before he could even finish the "This is..." Jeff immediately stopped him with "I know who this is!" We also talked wrestling the first time we met, and that was pretty much it ha! Gavyn was working on the road for J&R Underground at the time, so we spent our weekends together but that was about it. I learned quickly that if I wanted to spend time with Gavyn while he was home, I better get myself some camo and sit in a tree stand or start learning to cast a rod in a boat. Fast forward three short months into our relationship, we started renting a place in Highland and moved in together. We both got new jobs at the same company, moved again to Belmont, got a five week old beagle puppy, took a couple international vacations, bought a pair of jet skis, a UTV, new vehicles and so on. My most prized accomplishment together over the years is buying a piece of land overlooking the Wisconsin River in Prairie du Chien, WI where we love to be any chance we get. We are thrilled to hopefully start building our dream shouse together. Two and a half years into our relationship, Gavyn and I took Rex and hiked to the top of the Platteville mound. Our intent was to look for bunnies and get a family picture which resulted in Gavyn getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. It was by far the easiest yes of my life! Through maintaining my CNA license, being a certified WIAA official for 4 years, and going back to school to get my EMT license while working a full time job, Gavyn has been there for me through it all. I could not imagine doing any of the adventures listed above with anyone else. We dove head first from the beginning and figured life out together. Our families and friends have been the best support group. We are super excited for what the future has to hold, and we have big plans in place to keep on pace with what we have done so far.
It all started when I was at Bo Hanson's graduation party. We were in the big shed of theirs where the band was and a car full of people got out with Kylie being one of them. She proceeded to walk over to me as I was talking to some of my buddies. We started talking about wrestling of course because at the time both of are families ran around wrestling. I could tell she was absolutely hammered by the way! After we were done talking that night she went off onto her own business and I went on to mine. I thought to myself and said maybe I should’ve asked for her number or Snapchat but I was always super shy at talking to girls around high school so it didn’t even cross my mind in the moment. Fast forward to the next weekend and I got a Snapchat notification and sure enough it was Kylie! At that moment on I knew I couldn’t mess up the opportunity. We started “talking” and we went on our first date. In Gavyn's fashion, a date isn’t always the most romantic date. I decided to ask Wilson to go to Bagley so Kylie and I went to Fennimore met Braxton at his house and we jumped in his truck and headed to Bagley. There I knew Kevin Wilson, Kylie’s co worker at the time, would be there and she always talked about Kevin and how much she liked being around him! After Bagley we headed back to Blue River and Kylie went home. From that time to like a week after I thought for sure I messed all this up with that god awful first date idea. Fast forward after that it was about a month or two after that we kept talking and finally started dating! During the early stages of dating, I was working in Elkhorn for J&R Underground. Then one day out of Kylie’s busy all over the place schedule at the time she decided she wanted to come spend time with me in the hotel one night. In my super romantic fashion I just had Kylie pick up some Pizza Hut on the way through instead of taking her out to a local supper club or something! We started getting serious about this relationship and decided I needed to find something back home for work that way having a house would become a lot more reasonable. We found a not so nice house in Highland that we knew would be a great starter house for the two of us. Once we decided to start renting out this house Kylie and I sat down and weighed out some options for work. She had me shoot her Uncle Dan a message to talk to him about working at Carey’s! After working at Carey’s for about a year and commuting back and forth from Highland to Belmont every day started to get old and not so fuel efficient Kylie and I decided that the little shit box in Highland wasn’t cutting it anymore. We decided to find something near or in Belmont that would help me save some money on fuel. Also at this time Kylie was working at UPS and Hallada's in Dodgeville, Fairway in Barneveld and reffing on the side. We wanted to be closer to work, so she decided to reach out to her aunt and uncle that own Carey's to see if they needed any help. After all of this madness of moving around and trying to find what suited us best with are relationship, we are working at the same place and walking to work everyday! Even though Kylie is my boss at home, she is basically mine at work too! Anyways, when we opened the new shop in Prairie du Chien for Carey’s, it really opened the doors for a lot of new opportunities for us. We always wanted to live closer to the river, so we started to search for lots of land to buy near Prairie and we did and up buying a nice 1.5 acre lot right by the Wisconsin river that would both loved the location of! Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, our lives really changed for the better! Kylie decided she wanted to go up on the Platteville Mound for a walk with Rex, so I figured this was a great chance to pop the question! Popping the question has truly been the best decision of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! I am super blessed that Kylie came into that graduation party stumbling and making the first move! I am also very very thankful and blessed with her family that has welcomed me with open arms since day one! Wouldn’t change any of this for the world!
