Kendrick is a good friend of gemma's oldest brother, Oscar. He was invited by Oscar to the Greene's for various holidays like Thanksgiving and Easter. For a few years Kendrick simply admired Gemma from a distance being shy and afraid of saying the wrong thing. This past Easter both of them sat at the dining room table and enjoyed each other's company while chatting for hours. They immediately got along so well that Kendrick asked Gemma out a week later. They have not been able to be apart since.
