As how it often goes when dealing with fate, Grant and Gentry found each other in the least likely of places. And if they're both being honest, it happened at a time they weren't even looking. Grant and Gentry met each other in January of 2023 when they both were cast in a musical, Peter and the Starcatcher. They later found out that both unknowingly auditioned with the same song, Part of Your World from Disney's The Little Mermaid. The jury is still out on who sang it prettier. A friendship grew during the rehearsal process and it cumulated with what could be considered some flirting when the show closed. Some friendly gestures and texting followed until Gentry finally texted Grant with "hey, what is this exactly". If you know Grant at all, this is exactly the kick in the pants he needed to make his feelings known. They had a first real and official first date in May of 2023 and that was immediately followed by them both being cast in another musical together, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. What followed was a whirlwind courtship due to the fact that they now sat side by side on stage, three hours a night, four days a week. Their relationship survived the show and if anything, the rehearsal process made it even stronger. This is backed up by the fact that when they took their first vacation together in July, they used one of their last nights at the beach to create a shared Pinterest account for a future wedding. Grant and Gentry share a love of travel and 2023 ended with them taking another trip to the beach, a dream trip to Japan, and a trip to California. Throughout all of this, they both realized how right and "easy" it all felt. They also knew they were both very lucky to have found each other. Something they continue to tell each other to this day. Grant designed and bought an engagement ring in September. Grant hid it in his closet. Grant had no idea when or how to pop the question. Christmas passed. New Years came and went. But nothing felt right. Finally an opportunity presented itself. Grant was cast in another show at HPAC, where they'd done Spelling Bee, where they had fallen in love over those hours of rehearsals and shows, and where they had both said "I Love You" for the first time, in the parking lot, before heading home one night. What better place to hide friends in family than in an audience of friends an family? So after a Sunday matinee in May of 2024, in front of loved ones and strangers, Grant proposed to Gentry and she said yes. Since that day, they've both been enjoying the engaged life but do find it weird to say fiancé in everyday conversation. They're both excited for the day they can instead say husband and wife. That day will finally come on May 24, 2025, almost two years to the day after their first date.
