George and Caitlin first met in the summer of 2022 in Orlando, Florida, while participating in a summer discipleship program through a college ministry called StuMo, representing the University of Texas and Texas State University. Their first connection was at a game night, where they quickly hit it off as friends. After that summer, they didn’t cross paths again until George moved to San Marcos, TX, to work for StuMo at TXST during Caitlin’s senior year. That fall, George and Caitlin began to spend more time together, becoming part of the same close-knit friend group. As spring arrived, their friendship deepened—along with some unspoken feelings. George eventually addressed the flirtation between them by apologizing for any confusion he may have caused through this lighthearted flirtation. Caitlin was genuinely surprised—she hadn’t realized there might be something more than friendship developing. Though George initially stepped back, the connection between them remained strong. A few weeks later, Caitlin—seeking clarity— asked if George had any plans to pursue a relationship. While George admitted he cared for her, he explained he didn’t intend to ask her out “right now,” as he would soon be spending the summer in Florida and Caitlin would be in Tokyo on a mission trip. Despite the distance, they found themselves texting regularly, sharing updates and encouragement across the globe. But as Caitlin focused on her time in Tokyo, she realized she needed space to be present for what God was doing in her life. With honesty and grace, she asked George to pause their communication. The silence that followed left Caitlin wondering if the door had closed for good—especially after George’s brief response to her heartfelt message. What she didn’t know was that George had been quietly counting down the days until she returned home. When Caitlin arrived back in the U.S., George was ready. One week later, he asked her on a date—and she happily said yes. Their first date was full of laughter and good conversation, leaving both of them hopeful for more time together. Soon after, George asked Caitlin on a second date, letting her know she could come prepared with questions—“just in case” they decided to make things official. (Spoiler: they did.) Nine months later, George proposed to Caitlin in the same spot where he had first asked her to be his girlfriend. Without hesitation, she said yes. Now, they’re enjoying their season of engagement and can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day with the people they love most.
