It all started with a simple message—just one emoji. From that small moment, a conversation sparked that neither of them wanted to end. From the very beginning, their personalities and passions stood out. He had a lifelong love for Toy Story, and she had a deep appreciation for plants—two things that, at first glance, didn’t seem to have much in common, yet somehow fit together perfectly, just like them. What stood out to her was his kindness, honesty, and how he was different from anyone she had met. For him, it was how sweet she was, how easy she was to talk to, and how her eyes were just as captivating as her personality.

Their first date was at a bowling alley, where she proudly declared her competitive spirit—only for him to win despite his efforts to let her win. He won her a plush from the claw machine, and their first kiss took place in a photo booth, capturing the beginning of something special.

But there was a catch. He was about to move out of state to serve in the Marines. She hesitated, unsure if they should continue, but he was determined to prove that distance wouldn’t stand in their way.

About a month later, they planned a trip to Washington, D.C.—a trip that would be a turning point in their relationship. It was a make it or break it moment, a chance to see if what they had was strong enough to last. He planned every detail, making sure it was special and filled with things she would love. By the end of the trip, she realized just how serious he was about their future together. That realization was only reinforced when it was time for her to head home. A snowstorm cancelled her flight, leaving her stranded—but without hesitation, he got in the car and drove her from North Carolina to Florida. Then, as soon as he dropped her off, he turned around and drove back. It was in that moment she knew—this was the man she wanted to spend forever with.

After that, they began a long-distance relationship that has lasted for three years. With countless trips back and forth, they managed to see each other once a month, making every moment together even more precious. Then came the moment when they both knew—this wasn’t just love, it was forever.

On their two-and-a-half-year anniversary, he invited her on a picnic—something sweet and thoughtful, yet casual enough to not raise too much suspicion. Still, she couldn’t help but wonder if this might be the day. They set up their picnic, enjoyed their food, and chatted like always. But as the moments passed and nothing out of the ordinary happened, she started to let go of the idea. She even glanced around, searching for a hidden camera, but it was just the two of them, enjoying a quiet afternoon together. Then, he got up for a moment, saying he needed to grab a package from the car—something completely normal to them, nothing that would make her second-guess. When he returned, he opened the box to reveal a Toy Story-themed claw machine—just like the one he had shown her before their very first date. She was confused at first. He already had one, so why did he need another? Curious, she reached into the box, pushing aside the packing paper, and uncovered a small faux plant. Delighted, she picked it up, excited about the little gift, completely unaware of what was really happening. She thanked him, not yet noticing the message written on the front. Then, she saw it. "Wifey Pie?"—the sweet nickname he had coined just for her. The moment it clicked, she turned to him, her heart racing, and before he could say anything, she jokingly asked, “Where’s the ring?” He just smiled and gently turned her toward the claw machine. Inside, waiting like a prize from their very first date, was the ring. They both laughed as they worked together to fish it out, reliving that playful moment from years before. As soon as they had it in hand, he asked the question that would change their lives forever. Through happy tears, she said yes.
