Our Wedding

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who is able to spend the day with us. We care for you all and look forward to celebrating with you. We moved to Australia in December 2018 and found a home down under. It's become a land of opportunity for us and we've started to make an incredible life for ourselves, which is why we are so excited to show you our home here. We are aware of what a big trip this is for many people so we want to make it as easy as possible and provide everything you might need to have a fantastic time while you’re in Australia. This website contains information about the wedding weekend and accommodation as well as things to do in Sydney, where we recommend staying and other suggestions for travel. We'll be updating the website regularly with any 'need to know' information closer to the time so keep referring back. Alex and Georgie xx

Our Story

We are getting married at Chateau Elan in the Hunter Valley wine region.Nestled among rolling vineyards and overlooking manicured fairways, Château Élan at The Vintage is one of Australia’s finest integrated golf and spa resorts located in the heart of the famed Hunter Valley.A family friendly resort, guests will have access to the pool, tennis courts and playground.

The Weekend

Friday 24th October 2025

We'll be arriving in the Hunter Valley earlier in the week to get everything set up and to start enjoying wine country early. The day before the wedding, Alex will be organising a golf day which will start early on Friday morning. Should you want to play, please let us know and we can include you in this. For those who don't want to play golf but are keen to get down early and see what Hunter Valley has to offer, Georgie will be organising a couple of wine tastings on Friday instead. The spa at the hotel is also on offer with plenty of treatments available, as well as the pool and tennis courts. In the evening, we will be enjoying pre-wedding drinks and dinner at NINETEEN located on The Vintage site (Chateau Elan's pub at the end of the golf course, you will see it on your arrival). We will be meeting at 5pm and would love to see all of your faces to enjoy our last drink before we get married!

Recovery - Sunday 26th October 2025

You can grab a recovery breakfast at the Legend's Restaurant on the Chateau Elan site. We will be there (with sore heads) at 10:00am. If you are staying for the day, feel free to enjoy what Hunter Valley has to offer, the wineries, electric bikes and beautiful gardens. We will be around in the Hunter Valley on this day, so let us know if plan on staying and we can look to organise something.

There are several accommodation options for the wedding weekend depending on your preferences. Chateau Elan is on a larger development called ‘The Vintage’ which also has an array of apartments and holiday homes. Please note that if you select any of the Chateau Elan accommodation options then you will be able to use our code BolamSmith2025 to claim a discount on your accommodation. Bookings open a year in advance for all options so be sure to book early to avoid any disappointment. For Chateau Elan, we are speaking with the venue regularly so we can update you as soon as the dates become available but please keep checking.

Grand Mercure Apartments

The Grand Mercure is located within The Vintage Resort in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country, and features twelve, 4.5 star apartments. Each apartment includes a spacious lounge and dining area, fully-equipped kitchen, beautifully-appointed bathroom, a laundry, gas fire and private balcony. The VIntage Holiday Houses

The Vintage Holiday Houses are located in the heart of the Hunter Valley Wine Country and also on The Vintage site. These privately owned properties are available for you, your family or friends to enjoy an escape amongst the vineyards. These are great options for large groups. Some houses are quite far down the road from the reception site, so please let us know if you book this and where you're located and we will look to sort transport on the day. Getting to Hunter Valley

Hunter Valley is a 2hr15m drive north from Sydney. We recommend hiring a car and driving to the Hunter Valley. There are several car rental companies in Sydney that offer competitive rates. Having a car in the Hunter Valley will be beneficial for getting to and from the wedding venue, as well as exploring the local attractions. Driving Directions:From Sydney, take the M1 motorway north. After about an hour, take the M15 Hunter Expressway towards Singleton. Follow the signs to Cessnock/Hunter Valley. Detailed maps and GPS services can guide you the rest of the way. Parking:There will be ample parking available at the wedding venue. Look out for signs directing you to the designated parking area upon arrival.

For those who have not visited before or for a while, we wanted to give a bit of information on Sydney, what there is to do and where we recommend staying.

Key Locations

Neutral BayThis is where we live! It's just over the bridge on the North Shore. A small suburb with restaurants and pubs, it's got everything you need. There are plenty of buses offering easy access to take you over the bridge where you'll be in the centre of the city but Ubers are also very easy to catch. Balmoral Beach (our local beach) is also a 15 minute drive away and is, from our bias opinion, the best beach in Sydney. ManlyManly is a vibrant beachside suburb that blends a laid-back coastal vibe with lively dining and entertainment options. Famous for its beautiful beaches, including the iconic Manly Beach, it’s an ideal spot for surfing, swimming, and scenic walks. The ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly is a highlight, offering stunning views of Sydney Harbour. Manly is great for families and friends who love the beach and outdoor activities. Bondi BeachBondi Beach is one of Sydney’s most famous and beloved beaches, known for its golden sands, great surf, and buzzing atmosphere. Staying in Bondi means you’ll have access to fantastic cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops, as well as the stunning Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. It’s a perfect location for those who want to soak up the sun and enjoy the vibrant beach culture that Bondi is renowned for.
