The Annapolis Valley is a beautiful valley that benefits from a micro-climate, where you'll find all kinds of beautiful orchards and vineyards. The valley is formed by a trough between two parallel mountain ranges along the shore of the Bay of Fundy, both sides of which make for stunning views. There's lots to see and do in the Valley!
Gorgeous view overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Minas Basin. Just a 10 minute drive from Kaitlyn's home.
If you're up for it, this is a must do when in the area. A 6K hike each way, the views overlooking the Bay of Fundy at the end are a must see, and well worth the hike. The trail head with parking begins at Scot's Bay.
A lovely spot to enjoy the ocean on a less rocky beach. The red cliffs of Blomidon make the shoreline one-of-a-kind.
Just 5 minutes from Kaitlyn's home, Hall's Harbour is a beautiful spot to view the world's highest tides from the rocky beach or the wharf - and, if you're in the mood for lobster, it's served fresh on-site at the lobster pound.
Another rocky beach on the Fundy Shore, Baxter's Harbour features unique rock formations that are fun to explore when the tide is out.
We enjoyed lunch here after getting engaged in Blomidon. Gezellig spot with great food.
A beautiful historic site and former Acadian settlement, Grand-Pré is a land of orchards, vineyards, and tides.
If you must leave the Valley (you really shouldn't) there are other nice things to see. Here's a few of our favourite:
Rocky shore on the Atlantic Ocean, famous for its lighthouse and beautiful ocean views.
Lunenburg is a classic, now more touristy Maritime fishing town, well-known for its brightly coloured houses, the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, and much more.
We did this hike (more of a walk) in March, and it's beautiful. Enjoy the beaches and a lovely trail that gives excellent views of the ocean. On your way, you can stop in at Mahone Bay, a cute little town with lots of churches and coloured houses.
Port Mouton is a small village on the south shore of Nova Scotia, known for the nearby beautiful Carters Beach - with white sand and bright blue water, this beach is a lovely place to visit and spend the day.
Along the Halifax harbour front, go visit the place many immigrants (including Gerrit's mom) first landed by ship.
In downtown Halifax and want to enjoy a nice fine-dining experience on the harbour-front? Look no further. On the pricey end, but food is superb, and views are lovely. We had our first date dinner here ;)
