Our story began with a phone call on May 27, 2023. Getzemany and Betsy were visiting Chris and Megan Arias in San Antonio. Chris thought it an opportune time to call his best friend, Andrew. Getzemany and Andrew were introduced to each other over an awkward phone call, Chris loving every moment of it. Despite Chris and Megan’s efforts nothing immediately transpired.

Over the next couple months, Getzemany and Andrew heard a lot about each other from the Arias’. Interest developed, and plans were made behind the scenes for them to meet that summer.

The day of meeting arrived on July 27, 2023, at a church conference called North American Youth Congress, in St Louis, MO. Getzemany and Andrew spent every free moment together, from in between services to a special date on the last night of the conference. Andrew was unsure when he would see Getzemany again, so he thought he better ask for her number before the week was over.

Throughout August and September many text messages, phone calls, and FaceTime calls were made, and during that time they discovered their true feelings for each other. Plans were made for Andrew to travel to visit Getzemany and her family in Texas. On September 23 they became official with her parent’s approval.

Andrew promised that they would see each other every month. In November, Getzemany made her first trip to Indiana, and together they road tripped up to Minnesota for Thanksgiving. Later, Andrew surprised Getzemany mid-December, with ulterior motives to ask her parents for permission to propose.

With the ring in hand Andrew’s next visit took place over New Year’s. On January 2nd, after a nice restaurant and aesthetic coffee shop, Andrew took Getzemany to Quinta Mazatlan where a special surprise was waiting for her. Upon seeing the flowers and picture frames, Getzemany said, “Oh look, someone is getting proposed to!” It was her.

Wedding Day, here we come!
