Daniel and Gillian first met on the University of Kentucky campus in 2019 when they were both applying to serve on one of the several committees for DanceBlue, a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon that raises money for the Hematology/Oncology Clinic. A couple of months later, they discovered they had been accepted to serve on the same committee for DanceBlue 2020. With servant hearts and a passion for helping those in need, they slowly got to know each other through meetings in preparation for the marathon.


While Gillian will claim she made the first move, Daniel will claim he always had eyes for the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl who stood out from everyone else. One thing he specifically remembers from their first meeting was Gillian’s full memory box she brought as a “single” item that represented her. Her unique personality and giving her all to others made an everlasting impact on Daniel.


Before long, Daniel invited Gillian to the local running store he worked at for a live music event the store was hosting, and then the two went to Graeter’s for ice cream afterwards. Soon after, the pair had their first official date at their forever favorite spot, The Windy Corner Market in Lexington, Kentucky. It took just a few short years for the couple to get engaged at that very same place, and they are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together!
