We met each other at UT Dallas back in 2014 - ten years ago! He was working late at the student union, as she leaned over the balcony to watch people shoot pool. She had only ever played pool in the dorms, where she was better than most other freshmen (quick plug). She was impressed with how good the guys were below (I hate admitting this, knowing that they'll see this). He came over and invited her to play with his friends, the "nuggets". Since then, anytime she would pass by he would wave to her and each time she would smile and think he's weird. Playing pool and challenging each other became part of their regular routine and start of their everlasting competition with one another (loser does dishes). Whoosh!
After living together for about a year, we decided to adopt a 2-year-old beagle together on August 19th, 2023. From the moment we met him, he has imprinted himself into our hearts. Here's a quick bio: Wonton’s name comes from a conversation that Gina and David had in college around the time they first started getting to know each other. He is bilingual, craves all 5 love languages, and is heavily loved and spoiled by his grandparents. He enjoys and finds it in his duty to wake us up at 8 am everyday (even on the weekends), guard our house from rampant squirrels, referee at the dog park, butt scoot across freshly vacuumed carpet, and crawl into bed with us at night, stealing our blankets. He reminds us that happiness is found in all of the little moments of life, like “walks”, “treats”, and “pup cups”!
So far our destinations have included various trips around Texas, Florida, Hawaii, and, most recently, Japan. We are both the type of people to go on vacation to explore and see all of the things, which means less relaxing and much more cardio than they regularly do; from climbing up Koko Head's crater trail (and stopping every 10 minutes) to walking 8-10 miles everyday in Japan and going to bed with blister patches. Gina manages to always get sunburnt, while David gets to eat all of the left overs. Despite how this sounds, they wouldn't want to have it any other way (well... less sunburnt) and look forward to many more adventures together!
