As many of you know, David and Gina met at work shortly after Gina moved to North Carolina the winter of 2022. There is still some debate over whether David held the door for Gina out of pure chivalry or because she caught his eye. He claims that it was pure chivalry, Gina thinks otherwise… a topic for debate for years to come!

Gina had just moved from New England and dating wasn’t on her radar. As a matter of fact, Gina’s first reaction to David was a cold shoulder. She soon learned that several friends were plotting a deeper connection.

Their now good friend Garcia was the icebreaker. Gina and Garcia chatted about their dogs while David was on the outskirts of the conversation. Finally, David chimed in about his dog Jango. The very next day, David waved her over to their lunchroom table. Conversation began flowing and he suggested the two take their dogs for a walk (very clever). Gina sneakily slipped a pink sticky note with her number onto his lunchbox. Later that afternoon she snuck to the restroom to ensure he received her slyly planted sticky note. He had it peeking out of his vest, proudly grinning.

Meanwhile, friends Aimee and Jesse were also attempting to play match maker. Aimee and Jesse had planned for the two to meet on a Friday night in March, but David and Gina beat them to it and planned their own first date later that weekend.

Butterflies and curiosity got the best of Gina, so she decided to surprise David at the Friday evening get together and they really hit it off. Sunday was far too windy and cold, so their doggie date turned into breakfast at First Watch. The two were inseparable after that weekend. Only two weeks later after a fun game of pick-up soccer, David asked Gina to be his girlfriend… and the rest is history!
