On October 25, 2022, Gloria gave dating apps one more try when she was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. Specifically, Bumble: an app where the woman has to message the guy first. There was a guy, Craig, who popped up and said he was British and on vacation.
She asked: "How is your vacation going?"
The first thing she learned about Craig was that he loved Dairy Queen. A lot.
After that, messages kept flowing. They both learned they loved live music and bonded over their Spotify playlists and favorite artists, movies and shows. Craig tried to impress her with his quirky Britishisms, and Gloria would counter with American spirit. It took four months for them to go on their first date.
Gloria and Craig met in person on February 26, 2023. They had brunch at the Iron Rooster in Annapolis, Maryland. Gloria didn't usually believe in meals as the first date and Craig had indulged at an all-you-can-drink beer festival the day prior, but the date still lasted six hours. At the end, she didn't know if that was actually a date until Craig immediately asked her out the next day for another six-hour date. By the next month, they had made plans to travel together that summer to Gloria's favorite city: Cleveland, Ohio.
Finally, on July 11, 2023, they decided to stop being cowards and stated they were officially in a relationship.
Thousands of texts and photos, hundreds of video and phone calls, six visits to the United States, two visits to the United Kingdom, two visits to South Korea, three overseas moves, one visa and one elopement later, Craig and Gloria are excited to begin their life in the United States and are thrilled to share their unique story with their closest friends and family.
