Our Wedding

Ricky and Gloria initially crossed paths thanks to their mutual friend Amber. The first time they were helping Amber move, and neither of them paid any attention to each other thanks to Covid. The second, Ricky went to join Amber after noticing Gloria in Amber’s SnapChat story celebrating Gloria’s birthday. This time, Gloria (in her drunken state) kept it moving, however Ricky was ready to try and pursue Gloria.&nbsp; Over the next year, Gloria and Ricky fell into a pattern when finding themselves at the same events. Ricky struggled to work up the nerve to approach Gloria, and Gloria would always be running off to take care of her dog Appa. It became a running joke among Ricky’s friends. Eventually it was Gloria who made the first move thanks to her friend Sierra leaving town and leaving her without a food buddy. Gloria hopped on the dating apps and found Ricky and swiped right. Gloria then gave Amber a heads up who happened to turn around and tell Ricky. Ricky quickly found Gloria and it was a match. Ricky and Gloria went on their first date in April. Sierra showed up unannounced while she was getting ready, and insisted on taking Appa so Gloria would stay out longer. From that date forward, Gloria and Ricky continued talking and video chatting every night. Ricky was still slow to make any official move during this courtship. However, internally Ricky knew he needed to hustle. Within a few hours of Gloria returning from a trip, Ricky showed up to Gloria’s place with a succulent, lavender scented vase fillers, and a bouquet of flowers with a handwritten note to ask Gloria to officially be his girlfriend.

The Chase

When Ricky and Gloria started to get serious, Gloria started to drop hints that she knew he was her forever person. Ricky’s response was that it would happen in 365 days. Impatiently, Gloria kept dropping hints and when Gloria sent the link to the ring she wanted, Ricky just asked why she sent it. Defeated, Gloria stopped asking questions. What Gloria didn’t know was Ricky already bought the ring and was trying to throw Gloria off. Throughout the week leading up to Appa’s 3rd birthday, Sierra was trying to get Gloria photo ready. She was oblivious to the efforts. Gloria was too focused on trying to get hints about when Ricky would propose. Sierra’s response was “he said 365 days didn’t he?” Ricky secretly planned to propose to Gloria at the party and was anxious the entire time. Again, Gloria was oblivious, even when he was talking to Sierra and Kyle about the plan while Gloria was in the same room. Sierra handed a gift to Gloria to open, from Ricky. It was a framed set of pictures of Appa. Gloria recognized all but one, but again she didn’t question it. While Gloria was trying to show off the pictures, poor Ricky had been down on his knee behind her, waiting for Gloria to realize that the one picture she didn’t recognize had the ring box staged in it! Still unsuspecting, Gloria eventually turned around looking for Ricky, found him on one knee and he asked her to marry him. After screaming, “shut the front door,” of course she said yes.

Melina and Gloria had an different start to their friendship. They both didn't like each other in 6th grade. However, something changed in 7th grade after they sat next together in English class. They went to undergrad together and were roommates for all four years. These two are thick as thieves. Melina has been there through all the hardships and the best times. Definitely took the saying "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" to a whole new level.

Phuong is Gloria’s second oldest sister. Phuong has always been one of Gloria's biggest supporters and will always tell it like it is. These two together are a match for their wallets as they will always encourage each other to treat themselves whether that’s purses or food. Since they have matching foodie energy, they always end up going halfsies on meals whenever they eat together.

Yen is Gloria’s third oldest sister. Growing up they definitely fought like sisters, and while they still will sass one another, they have also continually had each other's back. They grew the closest when Yen would stay up late baking and Gloria stayed up to taste test. Though Yen has rarely baked what Gloria requests, Gloria has made a request that Yen couldn't refuse- making the couple's wedding cake.

Amber and Gloria met through working at Helio and has become best friends through their love of food. Amber has played an integral part in introducing Gloria and Ricky starting off with both of them helping her move to being the reason why Ricky showed up to try and meet Gloria during a birthday celebration to finally hyping Ricky up to Gloria and notifying him that she was interested. This match wouldn’t have happened without Amber’s introduction.

Allison is like another sister to Gloria. When Allison moved to Syracuse a few years back, Allison, Phuong, Yen and Gloria formed the Brunchies where they occasionally went to brunch together. They bonded over their shared love of food, with Allison always cracking jokes and helping to keep Gloria in the know with pop culture. You can catch these two drinking wine and singing karaoke.  Allison's kids love Appa as much as Appa loves them.

Sierra and Gloria met through working at Helio and became best of friends after going out for brunch and nearly spending everyday with each other after moving in the same townhouse complexes. She’s been there for a lot of milestones including driving with Gloria to pick up Appa up for the first time. She’s also unofficially been claimed as Ricky’s best man since she helped plan the engagement and “kidnapped” Appa for the couple’s first date.

Rick and Mark met in Middle School. Mark lived a few houses away from Rick's grandma making it easy to hang out and do stupid things they probably shouldn't have been doing. They have always kept in touch anytime Mark would come home from the Airforce and would have big parties with everyone just to hangout and catch up. When Mark moved back to Syracuse, and they ended up living a block away from each other for a bit and would go on walks with Mark's dog, Lacey.

Alleister is Rick's cousin, but has been more like a brother to Rick. Rick has so many amazing memories of them hanging out with their friend Fred, staying up all night playing games like Melee, Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z and if you ask Al who was better, don't let him fool you. Al is one of the most dedicated people Rick knows. Rick will always be impressed by how Al pushed himself to get his pro card in bodybuilding and now turned one of his dreams into reality by making his garage gym into a small business.

Rick met Pat in Middle School and once Rick saw him playing Need for Speed on a Gameboy Micro in Social Studies, he knew he was going to be good friends with Pat. Also, Pat's love for the Philadelphia Eagles is almost contagious and it gets Rick rooting for them regularly - GO BIRDS!

Patrick Hughes

Rick became friends with Tyler after being invited over to his house to play manhunt. It was awesome but sadly they never did play manhunt again. However, there were still many great memories like all the all-nighters of at least 5 people in Tyler's basement gaming while his mom was banging on the floor telling them to keep it down.

Tyler Malfa

Rick met Bradley in High School. Rick remembers just thinking how nice of a guy Brad was, and he just wanted to be his friend. They didn't hangout a bunch in High School but as the years went on, they became better friends. Rick still remember randomly running into Brad and his wife, Jessica, at Blizzard Beach in Florida. Now every year, Rick goes to Brad's family camp every July 4th weekend, and they talk regularly about their interests such as Anime and videogames. Brad's kids even call him Uncle Rick.



Bradley Buck

Rick met Ankur in High School. They have so many great memories of hanging out with their friends Joe, Kyle and Christian where they came up with video ideas to record and many late-night trips to Strong Hearts. Ankur ended up moving away to Texas, which made it HARDER to hangout, but they made it work by chatting on Discord and getting really obsessed with the game Risk of Rain 2.

Please join us at 1:30 PM to witness the holy matrimony of Rick Sabine and Gloria Pham as we begin this beautiful journey together. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early as to keep distributions minimal.   The ceremony will last approximately one hour, with opportunities for family and friends to take pictures with the couple in the church following the service.

Cocktail hour will begin at 5:00 PM, featuring an open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres. During this time, guests will have the opportunity to take individual pictures with the newlyweds. At approximately 6:15 PM, guests will be asked to be seated for the introductions and the couple's first dance as a married couple. Dinner service will begin promptly at 6:30 PM and will be served buffet-style. The reception will end at 11:00 PM.
