Grace and Jon met the modern way: by swiping right on Bumble (swoon!) in 2017. Their first date was at Canal Bistro in Broad Ripple. Jon ordered a salad to impress Grace even though she was a bit thrown off, but his goofy humor more than made up for that. That was the first and last time Jon has ever ordered a salad at a restaurant.

After a few months of hanging out, Grace invited Jon (and his best friend Troy) to Thanksgiving because they didn’t have a place to go. The night before, Jon decided to make their relationship official so he would meet Grace’s parents as her boyfriend, not as some guy from the internet.

After 3 years of dating Jon decided it was time to settle down. Jon proposed to Grace in front of her family and friends, at the place where the first met, Canal Bistro. As they were walking to dinner, and crossed the canal bridge, she saw her dad out of the group of people and it was at that moment she realized what was happening. She turned around to see Jon on one knee. And the rest his history.
