Better Together

Picture of Better Together

Our story began about eleven years ago, when David walked into Lorri Fischer's classroom as the new kid in fifth grade. We started to develop feelings for each other, and the year flew by. It feels like it was just yesterday when David and I were sneaking around at recess trying to stuff love letters into each other's backpacks while attempting to avoid Colby Knifong, our sixth-grade teacher. Middle school rolled around, and we had our ups and downs as most middle schoolers do but still stayed focused on each other. Then high school hit. When I turned sixteen, David asked if he could be my boyfriend, officially, and of course I said yes. We spent the rest of high school continuing to grow and became high school sweethearts.

When people started talking about college, we were curious if we were going to end up at the same school, or if we would need to say our good-byes. Not only had our friendship grown, but our love had as well, and we felt God was telling us that our story was not over. We chose to follow each other to college, to pursue our dreams together, at the University of Idaho. Ever since, we have grown stronger together and kept God at our center the whole way.

New Year's Eve of our junior year, right after we watched the clock strike midnight and everyone yelled, “Happy New Year,” David got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “Yes!” It’s hard to believe the love story that began eleven years ago, has stayed so strong. We have spent almost half of our lives together. Now, our story is just about to start again, July 6th, 2024. We truly believe that God has had a part to play in our story, and we wouldn't have become so strong without His love and presence throughout the years. We can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together, and God willing longer.
