Our Wedding

We first met while attending undergrad at North Greenville University. As student athletes, we were both heavily involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and became leaders for the club. On Valentine’s Day of 2017, Chris told Grace that if they were both single the next year, they should go on a “friend date” to Chik-fil-a. Chris thought he was being slick, but Grace was catching on. Chris started coming over every Monday night to watch the Bachelor, which was the first sign he was a keeper. Soon after, Chris took Grace on their first date in downtown Greenville. The date consisted of Jamaican food, rolled ice cream (definitely the way to Grace’s heart), and Chris singing in the car. A short month later Chris told Grace he loved her after watching the Mets beat the Braves in Atlanta. We don’t know what was more surprising, being in love or the Mets winning. Our relationship has taken us from Greenville to New York, Las Vegas, Athens and Gainesville. We’ve experienced the lows of initial denial from vet school, loss of grandparents, and navigating long distance. But, despite the lows, we have encountered countless highs including watching a Stanley Cup playoff run, celebrating weddings, enjoying good food (especially dessert), observing nephews (and now nieces) grow up, getting accepted to veterinary and physical therapy schools, and of course getting engaged! We are so excited for where this journey will take us! Thank you for reading our story and being monumental parts of each of our lives. #GraceCaughtACarp

Our Story

We have provided a room block at a second hotel to ensure all of our out of town guests can find lodging! This room block is at the Hampton Inn of Gainesville, GA. The Hampton Inn offers complimentary breakfast and an outdoor pool. The hotel is a quick 5 minute drive to the Hilton Garden Inn. Reference the DeBoer &amp; Carpenter wedding when booking your room to receive our discounted rate!

The Walters Barn is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta airport. The airport also offers rental cars or shuttles for your convenience.

The Ava House B &amp; B is a cozy 1890 farmhouse located 15 minutes from the Walters Barn. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast and tours to local attractions during your stay at the Ava House B &amp; B!

Don Carter state park is located 10 minutes from the Walter's Barn. The state park offers many activities including biking, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking and swimming!

I met Toni while playing travel softball in high school! Ever since, Toni has laughed with me, encouraged me, and loved me. Toni has a beautiful heart that loves photography, green smoothies, and Jesus.
