Big Island Bouldering - the couples favorite past time! Not for the faint of heart… this climbing gym is free climb only (meaning no ropes included!). But it is a ton of fun for those brave enough to give it a try. There are plenty of climbing routes for adults of all different experience levels (beginner to pro) and a sizeable kid area. $$ - day passes are $26 per adult (a little cheaper for kids and young adults)

Home of the best coffee on earth? At least the best coffee in Hopkins, MN! This cozy coffee shop is a favorite of the couples for a jolt of caffeine and a sweet or savory treat. It’s also a great place to check out local art as they are constantly rotating in artwork from different local artists.

Feel like shopping? The Galleria will have everything you are looking for and more. If the weather is nice (ha January in MN?) 50th & France walking strip is also a good place to check out.

In full transparency, Welch Village is the couples favorite “local” ski-venture, but Buck hill is a closer alternative and also fun for those who want to get out for some snow tubing, skiing, or snowboarding $$$: anywhere from $20-64

Too many good options to choose just one! Unmapped in Minnetonka, MN is home to Grace’s favorite local beer. The Bearcave in downtown Hopkins has a “pour your own system” so you can sample as many beers as you would like (Joe loves their pizza). Prye’s in Northeast Minneapolis might be a bit overpriced but it’s a fun atmosphere and just a short drive to the famous Stone Arch Bridge (and also the location of Joe & Grace’s first date!).

Breweries

Minnesota is famous for creating the Juicy Lucy and even more famous for the rivalry that was ignited between Matt’s Bar and the 5-8 Club for “who did it first.” Regardless of who did it first, Joe and Grace have dubbed Matt’s Bar as the restaurant “who did it best.” But you will have to decide for yourself! 5-8 Club is a short 10 minute drive from Matt’s Bar at 5800 Cedar Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55417.

Craving a winter walk? The Chain of Lakes walking path is easily accessible and can be modified to be as short or long as you would like. The lakes are also groomed for cross country skiing (classic and skate) for a lovely, beginner-friendly trail. $$ - walking paths are free to enjoy, ski trails require a day pass ($10-20)

Original Smack Shack and home of the couples favorite dive bar… This bar has everything from seafood to pull tabs. Great bar to watch a game but best to leave the kids at home!
