Our Wedding

Samuel&nbsp;and&nbsp;Grace&nbsp;began&nbsp;talking&nbsp;on&nbsp;August&nbsp;24th,&nbsp;2022.&nbsp;After&nbsp;spending&nbsp;the&nbsp;whole&nbsp;night&nbsp;texting&nbsp;while&nbsp;Samuel&nbsp;was&nbsp;at&nbsp;work,&nbsp;they&nbsp;decided&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;together&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;sure&nbsp;it&nbsp;wasn't&nbsp;too&nbsp;good&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;true!&nbsp;Needless&nbsp;to&nbsp;say,&nbsp;the&nbsp;coffee&nbsp;date&nbsp;went&nbsp;well.&nbsp;They&nbsp;spent&nbsp;countless&nbsp;days&nbsp;driving&nbsp;almost&nbsp;an&nbsp;hour&nbsp;each&nbsp;way&nbsp;to&nbsp;see&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;and&nbsp;grow&nbsp;their&nbsp;relationship. Grace&nbsp;and&nbsp;Samuel&nbsp;introduced&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;to&nbsp;their&nbsp;respective&nbsp;parents&nbsp;soon&nbsp;after&nbsp;meeting.&nbsp;Grace&nbsp;remembers&nbsp;visiting&nbsp;Samuel's&nbsp;parents&nbsp;at&nbsp;Lake&nbsp;Hartwell&nbsp;while&nbsp;they&nbsp;were&nbsp;camping.&nbsp;She&nbsp;loved&nbsp;getting&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;where&nbsp;his&nbsp;love&nbsp;for&nbsp;fishing&nbsp;and&nbsp;camping&nbsp;came&nbsp;from,&nbsp;and&nbsp;she&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;spending&nbsp;time&nbsp;with&nbsp;his&nbsp;family&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;water. One&nbsp;of&nbsp;Samuel's&nbsp;favorite&nbsp;memories&nbsp;is&nbsp;spending&nbsp;their&nbsp;first&nbsp;Christmas&nbsp;together.&nbsp;After&nbsp;celebrating&nbsp;at&nbsp;Grace's&nbsp;parents&nbsp;house&nbsp;he&nbsp;felt&nbsp;welcomed&nbsp;into&nbsp;the&nbsp;family.&nbsp;He&nbsp;enjoyed&nbsp;hearing&nbsp;stories&nbsp;about&nbsp;Grace's&nbsp;family&nbsp;and&nbsp;getting&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;them&nbsp;better.&nbsp; Since&nbsp;meeting,&nbsp;Grace&nbsp;and&nbsp;Samuel&nbsp;won&nbsp;their&nbsp;first&nbsp;Gilreath&nbsp;Pumpkin&nbsp;Carving&nbsp;competition&nbsp;together&nbsp;(and&nbsp;are&nbsp;planning&nbsp;a&nbsp;comeback&nbsp;this&nbsp;fall),&nbsp;participated&nbsp;in&nbsp;two&nbsp;Fall&nbsp;Festivals,&nbsp;and&nbsp;attended&nbsp;each&nbsp;other's&nbsp;family&nbsp;celebrations&nbsp;as&nbsp;much&nbsp;as&nbsp;possible.&nbsp;They&nbsp;have&nbsp;also&nbsp;accomplished&nbsp;hiking&nbsp;the&nbsp;Dismal&nbsp;Loop&nbsp;together&nbsp;-&nbsp;they&nbsp;spent&nbsp;five&nbsp;and&nbsp;a&nbsp;half&nbsp;hours&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;woods&nbsp;talking&nbsp;and&nbsp;getting&nbsp;to&nbsp;know&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;on&nbsp;a&nbsp;deeper&nbsp;level.&nbsp; Grace's&nbsp;job&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;State&nbsp;Parks&nbsp;has&nbsp;brought&nbsp;her&nbsp;around&nbsp;the&nbsp;state&nbsp;for&nbsp;either&nbsp;work&nbsp;conferences&nbsp;or&nbsp;just&nbsp;for&nbsp;fun!&nbsp;Together,&nbsp;they&nbsp;have&nbsp;visited&nbsp;Aiken&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;Santee&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;Edisto&nbsp;Beach&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;Hunting&nbsp;Island&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;Cheraw&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;Dreher&nbsp;Island&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;Oconee&nbsp;Station&nbsp;and&nbsp;Oconee&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;May&nbsp;Forest&nbsp;State&nbsp;Park,&nbsp;and,&nbsp;of&nbsp;course,&nbsp;Table&nbsp;Rock,&nbsp;Jones&nbsp;Gap,&nbsp;Caesars&nbsp;Head,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Paris&nbsp;Mountain&nbsp;State&nbsp;Parks. They&nbsp;enjoy&nbsp;hiking&nbsp;together&nbsp;and&nbsp;spending&nbsp;time&nbsp;taking&nbsp;Grace's&nbsp;family's&nbsp;dogs&nbsp;out&nbsp;with&nbsp;them!

Our Story

Please note: Camp Buckhorn is located inside Paris Mountain State Park. From the entrance of Paris Mountain State Park to Camp Buckhorn is approximately a 15-20 minute drive.

Please indicate if you are interested in spending the night in a Rustic or Renovated Cabin on your RSVP! These cabins are available at no cost to our guests. The two types of cabins on camp are Rustic and Renovated. All of the cabins were built in 1937. Rustic Cabins: These cabins are in nearly original condition! Each rustic cabin contains two bunk beds (4 twin beds in total), a bench and/or chair, and mounted wall heaters. Renovated Cabins: These cabins have a mini-split HVAC unit that provides both heating and AC. They also contain two bunkbeds (four twin beds in total), or a set of bunkbeds and a queen bed, a dresser or wardrobe, and a bench. Bathhouse: For those staying in cabins, there is a centralized bathhouse with three toilets, two showers, and two sinks. We will include a sign on the door to flip for guests to indicate vacancy/occupation. For folks who need it, there are ADA accessible bathrooms. Each includes a sink, toilet, and a wheel-in shower.
