Our Wedding

Our love began over a mutual love of some of the best things in life: Jesus (first and foremost), community, coffee, and the Tennessee Vols! Thank goodness for us both being born in the great state of Tennessee and making us both life long Vols fans. If not for that, Cam would have never commented on Grace’s Vols sweatshirt one night at church small group, beginning it all.

How it Began 

November 1st, 2023. Like all good first dates, we both went into this date with neither of us knowing whether the other one knew it was a first date. We had texted about our mutual love of Dunkin coffee the night before and decided to go get a cup of coffee the next day. When I (Grace) showed up, I walked in and was greeted by Cameron holding my favorite coffee, an iced caramel latte (he earned some big brownie points for that!). From there, we talked about our testimonies, our lives, and just got to know each other. We were having such a good time together that we ended up spending the whole rest of the morning into the afternoon together. Leaving that first date, Cam and I both knew that we wanted to know more about each other and spend more time together.

Our First Date

A little over a month into dating, we decided to go up to Franklin to have Cam meet my parents for the first time. In this trip up, we also wanted to go see the Christmas lights and decorations at the Opryland hotel. It was a bit of a stormy day, but nothing too terrible. We walked around, enjoyed all the decorations and were getting ready to go on the river boat, when the speakers overhead came on telling us to move out of the observatory. Now if you’ve ever been there, you know the ceiling of the Opryland observatory is straight up glass. Unknown to us, a tornado had been heading our way and was now about to go directly over us. In somewhat of a panic, we were led into the basement of the hotel along with everyone else there (including some tourists who had a few too many). If Cam wasn’t already nervous about meeting the parents, this just intensified his anxiety times 100. In an effort to calm both him and myself down, I began to pray over the situation and over Cam. If you ask him, Cam will tell you this is when he knew I was his future wife. He even proposed here (not in the basement 😂), about a year later because this was where he knew that I was the one. (After this Cam did meet my parents and was immediately greeted with a holiday cocktail upon entering the house after all that commotion.)
