I feel like anytime you're brainstorming with your friends about where to meet people, work is always brought up. You're required to be there on a regular basis so you're bound to consistently talk to the same people. Under normal circumstances I'm assuming people are referring to your coworkers. My experience was different.
For those of you that don't know, I'm a hairstylist. I might be biased but I think it's the most fun job you could have. You get to meet people from all different walks of life who maybe you wouldn't normally interact with. I'm a big homebody and a huge introvert so this was always one of my main sources of human interaction.
So back up to July of 2021, I get a text from some random guy saying a mutual friend had given him my number because he was looking for a new hairstylist. He came in a few days later and I remember as soon as he walked out the door I told my best friend Hannah who works with me, "Was it just me or was he like really cute?"
Luke came in a couple more times for haircuts but one day he texted me saying one of his employees had gotten Covid and he had been around him recently. He hadn't tested positive but he didn't want to pass anything along to me so he was cancelling his appointment. Obviously I was grateful and said thank you. The small talk began after that and we just didn't stop texting.
Luke definitely cheated and showed me pictures of his new puppy. My heart melted and I knew I had to meet him. Our first date was actually going on a walk around the pond with the two dogs so I could meet Lambeau. He didn't make it very far and I ended up carrying him most of the way.
I didn't fully understand how much of a social butterfly Luke was until I was thrown into meeting all of his friends. Although it didn't surprise me. Luke is the sweetest and kindest human I've ever met. He honestly wants people to succeed and helps out in any way he can. His friends are a lot like that too. It might have been slightly overwhelming to meet so many people in such a small amount of time but every one of his friends have always made me feel welcome and loved. I've met some really great people because of it and made lifelong friendships.
Luke pushes me outside my comfort zone and challenges me to be the best version of myself I can be. He supports me in any and every way possible. He takes care of me. He constantly makes me laugh and pursues me on a daily basis.
I'm so lucky to have a love like this and I cant wait to see what the years to come hold for us.
