During the summer of 2020, Jake, a fresh faced kid from Oregon, took a trip to Minnesota to visit a few friends he made during his first year of college. They wanted to give him a full tour, so they called up a few of their Minnesotan friends and headed to downtown Minneapolis. When they got there, a red car pulled up and out came a girl with a flower tattoo on her arm. Grace was shocked to find out his last name wasn’t just “Mast,” and Jake was shocked to find out one of the five states she hadn’t been to was Oregon.
That next fall, Jake and Grace were at college together, which allowed their friendship to continue and grow. Jake quickly noticed some qualities in her that he greatly admired— mainly pertaining to her faith. Grace admired his joy for life and loved catching him make weird faces for his own entertainment. As the year went on and with a solid foundation in their friendship, Jake eventually solidified his feelings towards her. Meanwhile, Grace apparently grew fond of him as well!
At the buzzer (the day Grace was moving home for the summer), Jake finally expressed his feelings for her. Grace was relieved and told him she felt the same way. So with some convincing, Grace agreed to quit living her single girl life and to make their relationship official.
We’ve had the joy of spending the last three years surrounded by great friends, playing far too many board games, and enjoying seemingly endless conversations and laughter. And finally, this past winter, we got engaged!
We are grateful to have walked alongside each other through all of the joys and tears of life since we met, and are thrilled to continue doing so ‘til death do us part. What a joy it has been to prepare for marriage to our best friend. We could not be more excited to marry each other and cannot wait to celebrate with you all! Thank you Jesus for writing the best love story for us we could have ever imagined.
