Even though it’s very common for couples to meet online nowadays I don’t think either of us thought we’d meet our forever person on a dating app. Even though that’s exactly what happened, this is our story of how we crossed paths by what can only be described as one of Gods mysteries.

It all started when I came across Graces’ profile and could only describe it as too good to be true. She had a prompt that said if you can guess what breed her dog was she’d owe you a drink so I gave it a shot and much to my surprise she immediately answered back. We hit it off immediately communicating nonstop both excited to meet in person.

Our first date was Saturday November 12th, 2022, a day I’ll never forget, I got to meet my favorite person in the world. I was expecting it to be a little awkward to start! There was none of that, we were as comfortable as we could be with one another. I was saying anything I could to make her smile all night. We finally had to part ways for the evening, but we had already made plans to meet again. We both agreed that may have been the best first date we ever had, I was hoping it would be my last.

The constant communication never stopped I would bug her at work all day and she didn’t seem to mind. We went on a couple more dates and it was finally time for us to meet each others families, a huge step in the right direction. Everything seemed to fall in place once we were introduced. Our families quickly realized it was something special.

Grace still wants to know what took me so long to ask her to be my girlfriend but that day came on November 27th. From then we were focusing on building a relationship with a good foundation around all the things we enjoyed.

Little did we know that in March of 2023 we’d start a journey that would help us learn more about each other than we’d ever know. Grace found a house to renovate, so that was how most of our weekends were spent but now we couldn’t imagine it any other way. So for a while we were occupied with that, but still found time to do some of our favorite things like spending time with our families, dogs and taking trips to the beach. We got the house move in ready by Thanksgiving of 2023.

I think both of us knew for a while we knew we both wanted to take the next step, engagement. If anyone knows me they know I can’t keep a secret, so this process would prove difficult for me. I already knew what she wanted, so after getting her parents blessing I went and picked out the ring. Then with a lot of help and encouragement from our families I started to plan how it would happen. The best idea we came up with was to make it happen on Christmas vacation to the Florida Keys. I had plenty of time to think about it on the nearly 12 hour drive down there which was more than enough. So on the 29th of December, I got to ask the most beautiful woman in the world to marry me and thank goodness she said yes. Since then a lot of planning and preparation have been done for our special day on October 5th. We can’t wait to start our journey together that all started on a phone screen.
