You will fly into Denver International Airport (DEN). Estes Park is about an hour and a half away from the airport. The airport has all types of car rental services as well as shuttle transportation directly to and from Estes Park. Estes Park does not have Uber. It does have Lyft and a taxi service on very limited bases. Like two drivers. For the whole town.
On your way home, for those who have never been to DEN, security can be a lengthy experience, so please be sure to leave with plenty of time.
We have used this company many times and they are wonderful. The shuttle is point to point and will drop you at the Y.
Estes Park is northwest of Denver. You will have a couple of options for routes. The more scenic drive is on 36, which takes you through Boulder and Lyons. Lyons is amazing and 10/10 recommend if you have time to stop. The less scenic but less traffic-y route is I-25 to 66. Use your GPS to give you the quickest route. After Lyons, 36 will take you on a beautiful drive up and over the mountains to Estes Park. Take it easy and drive safely. You might have patchy cell service here, but luckily, there is one way in and one way out, so keep going till you hit the Estes Park sign. It is a classic and great for photos.
We strongly encourage all of our guests to stay on site. The YMCA of the Rockies is located 5 miles outside of Estes Park along a two-lane road, which could get dicey if there is snow or ice. Safety first! It'll also be a lot more fun. The lodges are walking distance (100 feet) from the reception hall. This will make it easy to get back to your rooms at the end of a fun filled evening! Please be aware that there will be members of the public and other families staying in the lodges, so be courteous especially at night.
There are lots of dining options on the YMCA of the Rockies campus. Click here for more information.
