Hop aboard the Lakeshore Trolley straight from the hotel! If you need a ride to downtown Grand Haven or Spring Lake, the Lakeshore Trolly will take you and the family there for free (tips greatly appreciated)! The trolley runs from 12:00pm-10:00pm seven days a week. Have a blast!
Enjoy scenic views on the beach at Grand Haven State Park! So many fun things to do including taking a walk down the pier and viewing the lighthouse, tanning on the beach, and eating snow cones with the besties!
The first time Grace's family stayed in Grand Haven they decided to take the locals advice and see the lightshow. Boy, were they glad they did! Since 1962 Grand Haven has offered a fantastic 20-25 minute light show right in the downtown. The lightshow goes on every night from Memorial Day to Labor Day and begins at dusk.
Fun fact! Grand Haven is the Coast Guard City of the USA, and Commander John Kelly back in the 30's coordinated the building of the Escanaba ship that would eventually sink in the North Atlantic during a convoy duty taking 101 people down with her. The people of Grand Haven were devastated at the time, but in 1949 during the Coast Guard Festival, it was announced the park would be dedicated to the memorial of those lost on the Escanaba. The park is lathered in history and definitely worth checking out! especially for the history buffs!
PRONTO PUPSSS!! Okay if you don't have time to do anything else on this list, you've got to at least try a pronto pup before leaving! It's only one little stand on the main street in the downtown and they only sell one thing and that's a pronto pup. A pronto pup is somewhat like a corndog, but so much better. The breading is not as thick as a corn dog and instead much crispier! You can ask for a shmear of ketchup, mustard, both, or just simply try it plain! The line can get veryyy long as seen in the picture and on trip advisor, so my suggestion is to go during an off time like 3:30!
Such a delicious, fun little stand right on the river walk! If Grace and Scotty can suggest anything from here, they suggest the fried pickles with ranch! They are THE BEST fried pickles and ranch they have ever tried!
If your looking for a sweet treat, we recommend The Pump House Frozen Yogurt Bar! The inside and outside of this joint is super cute and even has swinging chairs on the inside! Any topping you could dream of they got it-even lucky charm marshmallows! The kids will love this place!
