Getting to BEAUFORT

We suggest either flying into Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU) and driving to Beaufort (~2.5 hours), or flying in to the closer, but smaller airport of New Bern (EWN), which is only a 45 minute drive from Beaufort/Morehead City.

Getting around Beaufort/Morehead City

You can rent a rental car, use Uber or Lyft, or even give Beaufort Rickshaw a call  (252-340-8280)!  You can also try Carteret Cab/Crystal Coast Cab for 24/7 service: 252-247-4600  Beaufort is extremely walkable, but getting over to Morehead City requires driving.

Get outside

Our recommendations if you'd like to see what eastern NC has to offer Stroll along the Beaufort or Morehead City waterfronts and enjoy the views of boats and islands across the sound. Take a hike on the <a href="https://www.ncparks.gov/state-parks/fort-macon-state-park/trails" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Elliott Coues Nature Trail at Fort Macon State Park</a> - our favorite place for a hike/bike ride. You can also access the beach for a nice stroll by the inlet. <a href="https://www.nccoast.org/uploads/documents/Media%20Room/Trail%20Maps/HP_trailguide.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Hoop Pole Creek Nature Trail</a> is an easy but beautiful walk through the maritime forest and marsh in Atlantic Beach. Kayak over or take the ferry across the sound to the <a href="https://www.deq.nc.gov/about/divisions/coastal-management/nc-coastal-reserve/reserve-sites/rachel-carson-reserve" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Rachel Carson Reserve</a> to explore the islands and spot the feral horses. Take the ferry out to <a href="https://www.nps.gov/calo/index.htm" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Cape Lookout National Seashore</a> or <a href="https://www.islandexpressferryservices.com/ferry-transportation/beaufort-shackleford-banks/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Shackleford Banks</a> for beachcombing or visiting the lighthouse.
