In 2013, Mercer University started their football program. With the football program they also started a marching band and a football cheer squad. Dillon was a member of Mercer University's marching band and Grace was on their first football cheer squad. Together they cheered the Mercer Bears to victory for a record season, winning all of their home games in their first year! Dillon and Grace continued to cheer on the bears at football games, basketball games, volleyball games, soccer games, and many other Mercer events.

In Fall of 2015 Dillon and Grace finally met! Grace knew of Dillon, noting that he was the drum major and trumpet player she thought was cute; however she was too intimidated by him to approach him. Dillon knew of Grace, but only ever had the chance to talk with her in game day settings. They finally started texting and talking, sharing little parts of their lives through social media and casual hang outs.

Flash forward to January 2016. In addition to both being busy with classes, Grace was getting ready for Nationals in April, while Dillon was busy with pep band, Ensembles, and teaching Alliance. In their free time, they were able to find moments to share together, from lunch on campus to short conversations. However, in the end of January, Grace fractured her tibia plateau tumbling one Wednesday night. After this date, Dillon spent countless hours ensuring she got to class, physical therapy, practice, and anywhere else she needed to go, all while providing emotional support and a shoulder to cry on.

Dillon and Grace continued to spend time together, while much of it was spent with Grace on crutches. Dillon finally asked Grace on a date, where they shared a night of dinner, Starbucks, and the first Deadpool movie.

Dillon and Grace continued to go on dates and spend countless hours together. Dillon met Grace's mother when she stopped by for a visit. On March 11th, 2016 Dillon and Grace took a trip to the mountains in North GA to visit his sister Macy. While up in the mountains, Dillon finally asked Grace to be his girlfriend (spoiler alert, she said yes!).

Dillon and Grace continued to spend time together and allowed their relationship to grow. They spent time going to church, cooking AMAZING meals (but we all know it was Dillon who did the good cooking), spending time with family, and going on vacations. Dillon and Grace love to go to the beach, as well as go to Disney! They often spent time finding activities they enjoyed to share. During this time, Dillon graduated from Mercer in December 2017 and Grace finished up her degree in December 2018. Dillon found a job at Tattnall Square Academy where he manages their music program, from marching band to ensembles and music technology classes. Grace is currently applying for teaching positions while staying active with CrossFit on a regular basis.

On February 26, 2019, Dillon left for work early that Tuesday morning. Grace spent time preparing for their close friend, Anna to visit. Grace and Anna spent the day at Mercer, finding spots to take pictures for their upcoming graduation in May. Dillon, however, was planning a proposal with Anna and Grace had NO idea!

At 5:45pm, Anna and Grace walked onto the field to take some more graduation pictures where they were greeted by a photographer who was "there to take pictures for a senior". However, this senior "hadn't shown up yet and she didn't want to lose the light". Little did Grace know the photographer was there to capture their big moment! The photographer placed Anna and Grace on the 50 yard line, with Grace's back to Dillon. Dillon walked up to Grace and helped her off the ground. He then got down on one knee and popped the question!!
