Grace and Fred’s journey all started on September 16, 2018, when fate (a dating app called CMB) brought them together. Their first date at Happy Lamb Hot Pot was the beginning of an amazing adventure, showing how two seemingly opposite people can complement each other perfectly. They return to Happy Lamb every year on the anniversary of their first date to remind them how it all started (and because the weather is perfect for hot pot then).

Their early days of dating were spent in the cozy confines of their West End apartment, enjoying Fin’s Sushi takeout, savoring(chugging) wine, and watching movies. As the seasons changed, they made the most of the warm weather, taking sunset strolls by the Charles River and spontaneously attending Celtics games, thanks to their proximity to TD Garden.

They shared a passion for exploration and let their stomachs lead them. From scootering around Bermuda, to mastering the art of clam fishing in Cape Cod, each trip was a testament to their curious spirits. Their travels took them far and wide, exploring the vast empty lands of Iceland (right after COVID), eating their way through Shanghai and Japan, partying through Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, and wandering around Christmas Markets in Cologne. The “peak” of their adventures was a romantic proposal (catching Grace totally by surprise) at one of the highest points in Hawaii after a helicopter ride, turning the page on a new chapter in their lives.

Grace and Fred also found joy in the simpler pleasures, like bargain hunting at Marshalls and exploring new restaurants in Boston. Date nights are easy to plan for Fred as he just needs to pull up Grace’s curated new restaurant wish-list on Yelp. Although Fred isn’t a 3-star Michelin Chef, he is a 3-star Overcooked Chef. Luckily, this is Grace’s favorite game. Unluckily, the developers of the game designed each level to require intense teamwork, performance, and patience, putting Fred and Grace’s relationship to the ultimate test (IYKYK)… but in the end made their bond stronger than ever.

Together, the duo perfectly complements each other. Grace is always thinking ahead and organizing to the last detail, while Fred is more of the fire-from-the-hip guy, happy to see where the day takes him. It makes their trips a blend of the best of both worlds. In their daily lives, Grace is more of a night owl, and Fred an early bird. One can find Grace ordering lattes in the morning and Fred drinking espressos at night so they can maximize their time together (and keep each other awake). Even down to their snacking preferences, while Fred goes for the flattest chips, Grace goes for the crunchiest folded ones, showing how they can come together (to finish a bag of chips).

Grace and Fred eagerly anticipate the next phase in life, and can’t wait for everyone to join them in August (let's party!) for a memorable night celebrating with the ones they love most.
