Greer & Tyler

Our Story

Greer and Tyler met through their involvement in Big Brothers Big Sisters and seeing each other on Bumble. After a few unsuccessful attempts at a first date (Tyler says Greer canceled on him), Greer used snapchat to catch Tyler’s attention. Tyler was surprised that Greer was still interested, and even agreed to a last-minute Sunday date. They walked around the river and the Keeper of the Plains, followed by scootering to the Wichita Art Museum. After the date, Greer used one of her famous “no, thank you” when Tyler asked for a second date, claiming Tyler was too short.

Tyler wasn’t phased and didn’t give up in pursuing Greer until she finally agreed to a second date (which they sometimes call their “real first date”). They went to dinner and a movie. Greer said Tyler really impressed her during the second go around, especially “especially the way he ate his sandwich at dinner with a fork, and then by his insane knowledge of Young Frankenstein.”

From there, it seemed meant to be. Both Tyler and Greer fell in love quickly. Greer remembers feeling that Tyler was the first person with whom she could be completely herself. She said she first felt like Tyler was the one when she “couldn’t imagine my life without him. He puts up with all my nonsense, loves me unconditionally and is so supportive.” Tyler says he just knew that Greer was the one and that “it wasn’t something I felt at one time, but I realized I wanted to be with her all the time, I wanted to share everything with her”

They decided to get married after moving in with each other during the pandemic and realizing that they didn’t want to be apart. During a rare blizzard in Wichita, Tyler dragged Greer out of the house, and got down on one knee at their favorite restaurant, Norton’s Brewing Company on Valentine’s Day. Greer of course lectured Tyler that it was a bad idea to go out during a blizzard, and was hesitant on going. Her car wouldn’t start because it was so cold and she tried to use that as an excuse to not go. Luckily, Tyler persisted and they made their way downtown. After lunch, Tyler and Greer shared a cupcake and beer pairing (two of their favorites things) followed by one final cake that said “will you marry me?” As it came out, Tyler got down on one knee.

After Greer asked to move tables, she thought the wait staff was mad at her because they kept staring at their table and whispering to each other. After their meal and cupcake and beer pairings. The waiter said, “we have one more for you!” Self-assured Greer told the waiter, “nope, we’ve already had all of our cupcakes” and was completely surprised when Tyler got down on one knee with a ring and cake that said “Will you marry me?”.

Of course, Greer said yes and that it was one of the best days of her life, and the rest is history!
