Our Story

Light Of My Life

Picture of Light Of My Life

(Greyson speaking)

We met at exhausting points in our lives, trying to fill the gaps in our hearts with redundant dates and drinking every night. The town we come from is small. There's not many things to do or a great selection of people in the dating pool. We met on Tinder (surprising huh?) And Mike was daring enough to text me twice. We all know how Tinder is, so that at least got my attention. All he wanted was to go have a drink. Nothing weird, pushy, or any expectations were set. I thought, why not? I might as well get a free beer.

Our first time meeting, he picked me up to go get dinner. He managed to spend $200+ dollars on sushi and drinks that evening. He was shy and quiet. A sense of innocence under a blackened veil to protect his heart. I knew immediately I was in it for the long run. What can I say, I'm a sucker for sad boys.

And just like that, he never left my side. We spent almost every day after that together. We went to Vegas after knowing each other for 2 weeks. Our connection is something only a few people get to experience in their life. I already knew he was the one I wanted forever with me. Traditionally, I'm a bit slower in relationships and let them form naturally. So this was rather different compared to my past. Ironically, I give him his first ring in Vegas. It said, "I love you." On the inside. I found it at a thrift store and felt it was the right moment to present it. He barely took it off after that trip 🖤.

Fast forward a year later, and we moved to Denver together. This was a big step for Mike, as he never moved out of Grand Junction before. Let alone with a significant other. But, we faced a lot of harsh living challenges as a couple through that past year. We almost lost everything. And our bond only formed further. Our foundation is solid and cannot be shaken. We will do anything and everything for each other.

Considering our relationship, I figured it would be perfect to propose that summer after we were moving into this next phase of life. I've never liked the idea of marriage, cause I never found someone I could trust completely. I surprised just about everyone around me by proposing.

I initially wanted to propose on my birthday, but the ring didn't arrive on time. Instead, I improvised our trip to the Renaissance Faire in the next coming weeks. I didn't have anything planned the day of and scoped the area for potential spots. I spotted a wishing well and decided that would be the perfect spot to propose. I waited until the end of the day, where most people had cleared out. Throughout the day, I spoke to a violin player who was setting an ambiance for the faire. I asked if she would be willing to play a melody for us at the well. She agreed, and we set a time to met back at the well.

I told Mike I wanted to make a wish at the well before we left. She was playing a theme from the Princess Bride, it was just the melody, water rushing, and faint chatter of people leaving the gates. We both took a coin to throw in the water, and Mike dropped his, of course lol. This was a perfect moment for me to bring out the ring, so it worked perfectly. I asked him if he would make my wish come true and if he would marry me. He immediately said yes, without hesitation.

And here we are, a year later, about to get married. We have a beautiful life. A comfortable home, two sweet kitties, jobs we love. Our home is warm, full of laughter, and loving gestures. We have never once fought, we always talk things out calmly. We respect each other. We truly love each other unconditionally. Nothing stands in our way and our roots are never shaken.

Thank you for reading our story, and continuing to be a part of it by attending our ceremony! This is such an important day for both of us to show the world our love.
