Emily and Gwyneth met during their undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley in a Harry Potter class. Emily claims that Gwyn doubtlessly forced her friendship upon her, but they've been roommates for 6 years in spite of that particular take :) Much to Emily's chagrin, Alex has lived with them for most of that time, and the three of them do everything together.

Gwyneth and Yorke met when Gwyn was just a little sprout as a freshman in high school. They immediately bonded over their shared love of music, fantasy books, animals, and science. Gwyn married Yorke and her husband, Nate, in Japan this past year atop Mount Mitake in the westernmost part of Tokyo!

Jazzy and Gwyn first connected in a Harry Potter class as wee undergraduates at UC Berkeley. They have been inseparable ever since and have spent many nights in the last 8 years crying over finals, dancing with margaritas in hand, sobbing over TV show finales, and exchanging more memes in a week than should be legally allowed.

Kat and Gwyn met while working at a volunteering group for at-risk youth called Future For Kids when Gwyn was junior in high school. Gwyn was recently a bridesmaid in Kat's wedding to their shared friend (turn Kat's hubby), Justin from the same group. Their combined humor can only be described as a form of savagery and they often opine over the struggles of owning sausage-y dogs.

Rachel is Gwyneth's oldest sister, so she has been stuck putting up with Gwyn's antics, bad jokes, and attitude since the very beginning :) Rae has always been Gwyn's go-to for tough love and to crack a smile on a bad day. She thinks Gwyn is the geekiest person on Earth, and has thought that since the very beginning.

Rebekah is Gwyn's second eldest sister and is forever a source of love and support, no matter how bad things get. She's not sure what to do with Gwyn's swearing and GIF storms, but she's always a phone call away and never hesitates to make fun of Mom with her.

Casey and Gwyn met through a mutual friend by complete happenstance at a beloved boba shop near Cal about six months before Alex came into the picture. Casey and Gwyn live to embrace their girly girl sides together and maintain a constant discourse over the nature of social issues and why people (rather inconveniently) aren't mermaids.

Liz grew up with Alejandro and the Ramirez family in Montebello, CA, and has been a friend of Alex's for two decades. She is a continuous source of riotous laughter and deep-cut memes. She is proud to have Gwyn taking up the mantle of ribbing the hell out of Alex into perpetuity and has stated this approval from the moment they met when Alex first brought her home.

Kevin and Alex have been close friends ever since their days at Montebello High School. Both members of the JV Waterpolo team, they were at mercy of their coach, but together they survived. Kevin eventually moved down to San Clemente for the remainder of his high school experience where Alejandro continued to visit him over the summers in that ocean bound town.

Grey has the misfortune of being Gwyn's younger brother. The two of them argue from time to time but are close when it counts. They grew up watching Crocodile Hunter, Blue Planet, and Cirque du Soleil together, and they still share a love of animals and the natural world. They both wax poetic together about science, politics, philosophy, reading, music, and being pet parents :)

Mary is Alex's middle sibling and has been the wind at his back since they were kids. Alex and Mary have decades of group chats, Twitter threads, and jokes that have kept them close even when moving away for school. They are still each other's go-to when life gets hard and spend too much time re-playing narrative-heavy video games together.

Bond and Gwyn met in a math class in high school and have been a rambunctious, wild pair ever since. No amount of late night Skype calls, dance parties, and escapades has ever been enough. Bond and Alex also hit it off as soon as they met, and we have all since spent multiple holidays and vacations together as a group :)

Alejandro met Aaron in the Summer of 2017 where the both of them would stay late into the night working on experiments. They both had fond memories from back then and continue to support each other as they progress through their careers.

Jake is a mentor of Gwyn, being her favorite graduate student that she worked under in her neuroendocrinology pursuits. Jake has shown up time and time again and stays forever as a presence of joy, excitement, and sudden trips out into nature at a moment's notice.

Alejandro and Nikko clicked together, both transfer students to Cal. Both with a love of punk and edgy music, bioengineering, and early 2000's Japanese media they loved hanging together every time they're in the same city.

Andy came into both Gwyn and Alex's lived back in 2019 where they had just started at Cal as a graduate student in Astronomy, joining a friend's book club in order to meet new people. Since meeting Andy, they have been a constant in their lives, often hanging out, going to movies, and having dinners together!
