Both born and raised in Butte, MT it is not out of the ordinary to know most people in town. Especially if you attend the same high school, and your parents houses are located under 0.5 miles away from one another.

One day in the middle of summer 2012, I was driving down Blacktail Loop headed home after a morning strength and conditioning session at the high school. With a good friend in my passenger seat, we passed Dunk on a jog. He was already graduated from high school and was home for the summer. My friend (who knew Dunk through her older sibling) opened up the sun roof of my car and gave him the famous **whistle whistle**. If you know this friend of mine, this is not out of the ordinary and all in good fun. Later that afternoon, I received a Facebook message from Dunk giving me a hard time about my friend earlier that day. Prior to this interaction, I don't think we had ever actually spoken to each other. With our age difference in school (3 grades) we didn't find ourselves in the same social circles unless at a sporting event. However, ironically enough I do remember getting "initiated" my freshman year of high school on the softball bus. I was badgered about spilling the beans on who I thought was the cutest boy in the senior class. My answer: Dunk Abbott.

After days of small talk through Facebook messenger, we finally exchanged phone numbers. Throughout that next year we chatted casually here and there and got updates from each other about what was going on in each other's lives at the time. We lived in different states now, as Dunk had moved away to pursue playing junior hockey. I was still in high school and was very much invested in my friends and sports activities.

Almost a year later in the summer of 2013, Dunk and I were both attending the summer country music festival known as Country Jam. With the two of us having several mutual friends and acquaintances, we spent quite a bit of time around each other over that weekend.

That time spent together only increased in the days and years to follow after that weekend. I guess this is when you say, "The rest is history".

After 10 years of dating, some long distance, many of life's curveballs, and two dogs later-- we are so excited and grateful to share our wedding day with you!!
