Parking fee is $6 per non-resident vehicle. Be prepared for a short 0.5 mile hike to see beautiful and authentic pictographs made by native americans that date back hundreds of years ago.
Years ago, Billings used to be a giant river. The Yellowstone River as we see today used to be as tall as the rims that currently surround us. If you drive up to Airport road, near the airport, you can park and see Billings from up above and read up on some of our history. You can even see the beautiful Beartooth mountains off into the distance!
Pompeys Pillar is a stone that the Lewis and Clark expedition stopped at on their way through the area. On the stone named after Sacagawea's child, you'll notice that Clark signed his name, which has been preserved all this time. Entrance costs $7 per vehicle, and there is some hiking involved.
