How We Met

Connecting over our mutual love of Disney and Star Wars, we hit it off quickly. We began speaking during the holiday season of 2020, meeting each other in person for the first time on January 2nd 2021. We were talking while I was working and Quinton told me he was planning on going to Disney that night with his brother and a friend. I expressed my sadness due to missing Disney, so he proceeded to try and convince me to call out sick, even though I worked from home. When I told him I couldn’t, he offered to delay their trip until I got off work so we could all go together. Once I got off and Quinton, Hunter, and their friend picked me up, I proceeded to threaten Quinton with my pocket knife in the backseat of the car as we drove, while telling him my best friend had my location if they were to try anything.
Once we got to the area, Quinton quickly booked us reservations at an Italian restaurant at one of the resorts to secure us parking. When we were seated, I was shocked over the prices and too nervous to eat, so I proceeded to order dessert and a beer, so that I didn’t make things awkward by not eating.
After that, we went to Disney Springs for a while to all hang out, before heading back to my apartment in Tampa. Hunter and their friend parked while Quinton walked me to my door. Even though I had a great time and really enjoyed being with him, I am still VERY awkward, proceeded to hug him, instead of a kiss, and saying goodbye before rushing inside, kicking myself on the inside. I didn’t end up sleeping that night because I REALLY liked this guy and was worried I ruined things at the end.
But somehow I didn’t, he texted me when he made it home safe and we proceeded to go back out to Disney Springs the very next day, just us two. Since then, we’ve been inseparable.

Moving In

About a month before moving in with Quinton, I had planned on seeing him after a job interview I had in his area. Seeing as I was already over there, I went to see him at his job after my interview, walked in, and proceeded to ask for his keys so I could go relax at his house til he got off. McDonalds had spicy nuggets back, so I was going to grab some before heading over. At the moment, I didn’t realize how mortifying it was to ask for the keys to my boyfriend’s house two months into dating (little did I know, I’d have my own about a month later).
I still grabbed my McDonalds, let myself in, plopped myself on HIS side of the bed, while turning on a Disney movie, feeling so embarrassed about what I’d done. But with a full belly in a comfy bed, I ended up falling asleep, being woken up a few hours later to a kiss on the forehead as Quinton curled up with me.
Once I moved in, Quinton and I had one last major concern. My cats. It was not fair to leave them at my apartment by themselves, while I was in a nice safe home. We quickly got the house rearranged and prepared for Fatsy and Gabriel to come to their new home. I was in my apartment the day Quinton gave the okay and I was so excited to have my babies in our unknowing forever home. In the commotion of packing up essentials and the cats themselves, I locked myself out of my apartment, delaying us a half hour while waiting for one of my office staff to come let me in. Quinton was luckily on lunch while I was driving back so I was able to call him on the car ride over as poor Gabriel screamed his little lungs out. I ran through the drive through of Quinton’s job so he could say hello to our handsome boys before taking them home to get them settled in. Over the past couple of years, the cats have been sure to let us know it is their home and we’re lucky to share it with them, which is obviously true.

The Proposal

When it came to the proposal, the plan was laid out for me from the beginning. Before Disney announced the return of the “Happily Ever After” fireworks show, Hailey expressed that if Disney were to bring it back, she wanted to be proposed to during that show. Well they brought it back and it was just a matter of time before I could schedule the right moment. With some help from my parents, I bought the ring and had it shipped to their house for safekeeping while I waited. I planned the perfect weekend, got us a hotel room for the night, and it would go as follows: Sunday we would go to Disney, see the show, then return for a meal at the hotel. Monday, we would go to a character breakfast then afterward meet up with my mom. This was all she knew about that weekend. Two weeks before, i moved the ring to my house and hid it. Despite her best efforts, Hailey was kept in the dark about the proposal due to some creative hiding and storytelling by me. Then Sunday October 8th came and as we got ready to go to the park, I stuffed the ring in my pocket and held tight. Hours passed as we waited in our spot for the show and as the show was coming to an end, I got down to ask the all important question and the immediate response was “Are you sure?!” Well of course I was sure and it made the special moment, that much better.
