Austin and Haleigh met in San Diego in February 2024 — a modern love story sparked by a swipe on Hinge and sealed by a walk along Imperial Beach… and a surprise run-in with a swarm of bees. (Yes, really.) What could’ve been a chaotic first date turned into a moment of unexpected joy, and something just clicked.From there, their love grew quietly and steadily — with early dates spent hiking, sharing books, studying in libraries, and watching sunsets by the ocean. It wasn’t long before their hearts knew what their minds were still catching up to: this was something rare.As Austin’s military service took him across the world to Japan, their relationship found a rhythm across time zones and video calls. They held tightly to one mantra: “One day closer” — a promise to each other that no matter the distance, they were always moving toward the life they were building together. That promise came full circle in March 2025, when Austin proposed at the stunning Motonosumi Shrine in Nagato, Japan.Today, their love is full of laughter, travel, deep friendship, and quiet strength — and every day brings them one day closer to forever.

It may be December, but it's San Diego! So you can expect sunshine and beautiful weather! There are tons of hiking trails around San Diego, depending on the level of activity. The beaches in December are also beautiful to walk along, though the water may be a bit cold for a swim.
