Once upon a time, a single girl and a single guy both swiped right on a dating app. She messaged first and asked what his most unpopular opinion was. He quickly responded with two answers: Grey's Anatomy was overrated and corn-on-the-cob does not belong in seafood boils. How scandalous!
They talked all day everyday for about two weeks and then came the first date. June 7th, 2022. A romantic Italian lunch, a walk by the Coosa River at sunset, and a kiss on the pier made for a storybook perfect first date. (Even if a boat did drive by and cheer them on as they were kissing which embarrassed the heck out of them both!) Then the next day, the guy slipped calling her his girlfriend into conversation. The girl jokingly said "You haven't even asked me officially yet mister! Don't go assuming!" Then on June 9th, 2022 the pair met up for a quick lunch between work and classes at Cook Out. It was there in the Cook Out parking lot that that guy looked at that girl and asked her to be his girlfriend.
The 644 days that followed were full of more adventures, laughs, and genuine love than either had ever felt or experienced. They experienced trials and tribulations and worked through it all together. Then on March 13th, 2024 that boy got down on one knee and asked the biggest question of all, "Will you marry me?"
It didn't happen in a fancy garden or a romantic restaurant or anywhere flashy. And they weren't wearing anything particularly special. They had both had a rough day and they were planning to go to dinner at Waffle House because that was what she was in the mood for. She closed the door to her bedroom to get ready, leaving him in the hallway of her apartment. She got ready, opened the door, and there he was on one knee holding open a box with the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. He barely was able to get the words "Will you marry me?" out of his mouth before she had tackled him while screaming "Yes of course!"
Now that guy and that girl are tying the knot on September 6th, 2025 at Jacksonville First United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at the Longleaf Event Center.
All because a guy and a girl swiped right. Wild!
