How far in advance should I book my plane ticket/travel?

We recommend finalizing your travel plans as soon as possible. Traverse City is a very popular vacation town in the Summer months and we also recognize that Cherry Capital Traverse City Airport is a smaller airport with limited flights per day. In order to ensure that you can organize your travel plans accordingly with your own personal schedules, we recommend booking when you RSVP, or even when you receive your Save the Date if you know you will be attending.

How accommodating is the Venue?

The venue is wheelchair accessible. There is also plenty of parking surrounding the venue (at no cost), which is also available overnight for guests if needed at the end of a long evening. Please note that as our venue is part of Northwestern Michigan University's campus, there is no smoking of any kind permitted on the grounds and in the parking lot. Bringing your own drinks to the venue is also prohibited and you may be asked to leave the campus.

What is the dress code?

Please dress in Semi-Formal/Garden Party attire. Northern Michigan in August can still get rather toasty, so suits are not at all required. The ceremony will take place on an outdoor patio right on the water, but the reception following will be indoors. At the end of the day we want all of our guests to be comfortable, so please wear something to your liking.

How can I determine whether I have been allotted a plus one, and how to I RSVP on their behalf?

When you RSVP online, you will be able to search for your name on our RSVP listing. For those individuals that have been given a plus one, a second field will appear for you to enter their name, or this will already populated for you to confirm. You will then be able to proceed through the RSVP process for both you and your guest.

Are children welcome to the ceremony/reception?

While we love all of our family members young and old, we will not be hosting children under the age of 18. Our hope is that all parents who can attend will be able to relax, enjoy their time with friends and family, and be fully present for our special day.

I have a food allergy / restriction. How do I best communicate this so that the food served is accommodating?

When you RSVP, either by card or online, please note this. We have formatted the RSVP card so that a line is included for you to specifically note this to us. We have also asked this as part of the online RSVP. We will then make sure to communicate all allergies and restrictions to the staff that is preparing food for the event so that they can accommodate appropriately. Note that we will be serving a buffet dinner rather than by plate, so if there are any added concerns with this, do not hesitate to reach out.
