Our Wedding

My dad always said that finding the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with just happens, meant-to-be love is easy. No shocker, he was right. One day you're lost &amp; confused, then suddenly it all just makes sense. Nate &amp; I grew up living 7 minutes away from each other but ended up creating our love story from 600 (at times, 8,000) miles apart. I will never regret taking one of the biggest (&amp; most nerve-wracking) leaps of faith as I drove to Raleigh, NC in August of 2020 to meet the future love of my life. Nate &amp; I spent the next 2 years living out what I could only describe as a dream. Spending the weekend in Raleigh quickly became one of my favorite things. The saying "Home is Where the Heart is" couldn't have been truer for Nate &amp; I as we made a bustling little street in North Carolina our own little home away from home. The door man at the local hotel knows our names, the sweet Publix deli counter worker knows our latest life happenings, &amp; Raleigh knows it really is the city where our love story began. Nate completed his time with the United States Army in November of 2022, opening up an entirely new chapter for the two of us. To be able to see each other without having to book a round-trip plane ticket was, and still is, something we will never take for granted. Life has truly only gotten sweeter since. On January 8, 2023, Nate officially asked me to spend forever with him. Yes, it happened in a Target parking lot. And no, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The easiest yes I ever could have said. Nate is living proof that good humans exist. He makes you forget that the world isn't full of people as kind as him. When you're little you dream of the man you hope to spend your life with, but the older you get the more you doubt they may actually exist. I can without a doubt say that my dreams were crushed, in the best of ways, by the exponential amount of exceeding Nate does for each characteristic I had hoped for. He dares me to find the beauty in each day, forces smiles out of me with ease, &amp; enhances every bit of life I have, &amp; will continue to live. Our story has just begun &amp; is already oh so sweet. That easy love my dad had talked about, we sure did find it. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you, Nate Gick!! Forever &amp; ever, amen.

My "Aunt Natawee", words to describe her simply don't exist. We've spent our best days, & our hardest days, together. The word 'roommate' will never be enough. Not only will Natalie hold your hand while you cry, but she will most likely cry harder than you as she watches YOU cry! When Nate & I called to share the news of our engagement, there were no words on the other end, just the happiest SOBS. And they lasted for days! During Nate's deployment we always joked that she took on the role as my "daytime boyfriend", due to the time difference. When she'd hear Nate's text tone every night she'd say "alright, my shifts over". But she has never acted like her shift is over. The constant support, encouragement, & love Natalie shows me is something I will eternally be grateful for. And if you see us crying to the song "Damn Good Goodbye" at the wedding, just look away!

The big sister I never had! Fun fact, I actually met Morgan before I traveled to Raleigh, NC to meet Nate for the first time. As nervous as I was to make a strong first impression (being a big sister myself & knowing that nobody messes with our little brothers), Morgan instantly eased every nerve I had. From that moment forward, Morgan and I have been best friends. Not only did I find my dream man, but also my dream sister-in-law. Morgan's kindness and genuine love for others is undeniable and indescribable. She has cheered Nate on his entire life & and has done just the same for our relationship as well. To know her is to love her!

If I asked Mystikal to tell the story of our friendship, she wouldn't let it begin without telling you that in 8th grade I didn't share my cookie cake with her one day in literature class. But I can happily report we recovered from that incident & the rest was history! Mystikal is without a doubt my mother's favorite child. Just ask! Mystikal is one of those friends that no matter the time or distance, the friendship remains the same.  My parents knew the drill; Friday night Mystikal would come home with me and the rest of the weekend we'd be huddled in my room watching American Horror Story and eating pizza rolls. No matter how old we get, Mystikal's friendship reminds me sometimes happiness comes from the simplest things & that as long as you have the people you love, you've got everything that you need. And boy do I love her!

Addison and I have been friends for a whopping 10 YEARS! Little did I know that Addie's invite to her 8th Grade Formal after party would lead to 10 years of lake days, high school & college graduations, Saturday night grill-outs with curly fries, beach trips, and getting to be a part of each other's weddings! Wherever life has taken us, at whatever distance, we've always felt not too far apart. 95% of my happiest memories have included Addie & I have no plans of that changing. I have loved nothing more than watching each of us find our "person" these past few years, but I hope she knows she will always be my "girl person". Even before we found our perfect men, started planning, & picked our dresses, I could always picture my wedding day with my Addie by my side.

Alicia holds such a special place in my heart. From our very first sleepover Alicia has been there through the good & the bad. Our friendship is the most candid & raw I have ever had. Always the first to dance it out with you when your favorite song comes on, the best laugh in every room, & a hand I will hold on to tightly forever! Alicia is always ready for a last-minute plan, whether it's helping you move into an apartment, a Starbucks run, or sitting in a parking lot watching the local Walmart go up in flames! She will also be picking out the exact manicure I will have on Nate & I's wedding day! If we ever go missing, check the first booth by the window at the Thai restaurant!

Maggie and I met in 2016, her freshman year of high school! We always joke that the only reason we ever became best friends is because I gave her no choice. Literally, the first day of class I said "You're very quiet, I'm going to make you be my best friend". I don't think I've stopped talking her ear off since! 7 years later & I've never been happier my pushiness paid off. Though she is the least "girly" of my best friend tribe, Maggie has gone above and beyond from the moment Nate & I got engaged to help me perfect every detail! She meets you where you are and cheers you on every step of the way, every time. My Baby Mags, I hope you know your loyalty & down to Earth personality makes you an ideal best friend. No matter how old we get or how far away the country is that you decide to run off to again, I will always drive you around & give you hours of advice like the over-bearing big sister I am!

If you need a prayer, Hayden's got you covered! My sweet angel girl, you are the biggest blessing. Hayden has prayed audible prayers over Nate and I and has wiped many of my "please help, deployment is scary" & "I'm going to fail this class if God doesn't work a miracle" tears. I had the honor of standing beside Hayden in her wedding last year & I am truly honored to have her stand beside me during mine. Life isn't easy, but with friends like her it sure is so much sweeter.

God truly gave me Lauren at the perfect time. If you know Lauren and I's relationship, then you know I wouldn't have survived nursing school without her. She kept me sane, well studied, and I don't think I would have ever showed up for class at the correct time if it weren't for her! I often crashed the night before class so I could "study" with her, but really it was because one year as roommates just wasn't enough. Lauren and I couldn't be more different (just wait until you see us standing next to each other), but I couldn't do this life without her. She is the sweetest, tiniest blessing!
